Sooner or later, all of us will get them. You cannot run or hide, lines and wrinkles will find you. Once it happens, you may wonder if there are remedies for wrinkles.

What are the best ways to slow down the process to avoid new wrinkles from forming, and to eliminate the ones you have?

Unfortunately, lines and wrinkles are a part of the aging process as I am sure you are aware. The goal is to keep them at bay as long as possible, so as to look your youthful best.

Wrinkles develop for a number of reasons. Things done in younger days such as overexposure to the sun, smoking, drinking, not getting enough rest, not eating right and heredity are some of the things that contribute to those age-adding wrinkles.

Another big thing is the natural loss of collagen in our skin as we age. Loss of collagen means loss of elastin, which is an open invitation for the formation of lines, wrinkles and sagging skin.

Free radicals, which are always active in your body, are doing their best to cause all sorts of damage to your cells and skin. If you do not get enough antioxidants in your body to control and prevent some of this free radical damage, then chances are you will age at a faster pace.

Remedy #1 - Take better care of yourself

After hearing this grim information, you will be happy to know that there are effective remedies for wrinkles out there.

The main thing to do is just take better care of yourself. Now is the time to get more exercise, and to give up bad habits like excessive drinking or smoking. Smoking ages your skin at an extremely quick rate, so if you need another reason to quit, the prevention of wrinkled skin would be a good reason.

With the crazy schedules everyone has these days, it is not always possible to eat right. Because of this, you should take vitamins to supplement the lack of proper nutrition in your diet. As a good starting point, vitamin C will do your immune system, cells and skin wonders.

Remedy #3 - Antioxidant-rich diet

A very simple way to ward off the wrinkles is to eat more antioxidant-rich foods. Fruits and green, leafy vegetables are the best.

In the fruit area, eat more blueberries, dark-colored grapes, pomegranate, melon and kiwi.

For your vegies, try to eat broccoli, kale, spinach, cauliflower and carrots. Beta-carotene is fantastic not only for your eyes, but for anti-aging in general.

As for beverages, choose water and teas with high antioxidant levels. Tea is an easy choice because it is naturally high in antioxidants. Whether it be white, green or black, you really cannot go wrong when choosing tea. Red wine and cherry juice are good choices, too.

Remedy #4 - Stress busters

If you are dealing with a lot of stress in your life, or just have a fair amount of stress on a daily basis, find healthy outlets to get rid of this stress so it does not show up on your face in the form of lines and wrinkles.

Exercise is a natural antidote for stress. Listening to soothing music, spending some quiet time alone to decompress and soaking in a warm tub are some ways to alleviate stress. Find what relaxes you and do it often.

Remedy #5 - Facial toning exercises

To work the muscles in your face in order to reverse lines, wrinkles and tighten loose, sagging skin, consider facial toning exercises. These easy resistance exercises can be performed in just minutes a day, and work all the muscle groups in your face and neck for a true natural face lift.

Remedy #6 - Collagen, antioxidant or vitamin skin cream
