I recently found an interesting anti-aging product, based on Nobel Prize awarded science, which reportedly creates Cell Rejuvenation through Telomerase Activation. I had never heard of Telomeres, Telomerase, etc., but I am very interested in products based on genuine and trustworthy science behind improving health and quality of life; in this case by literally turning back the clock (restoring cells to a younger and healthier state). I hope you enjoy this read and it is certainly worthwhile to do some additional research yourself. I am certainly not the first writing about this, but I am trying to make this comprehensible for you and me.
“Telomerase activation in aged or chronically stressed normal cells has been shown to slow or reverse telomere shortening, increase replicative capacity and restore or improve cellular function” Geron Corporation (NDAQ:GERN)
I started my research on the internet and read about the science behind this breakthrough that won the 2009 Nobel Prize in Medicine; for more information about this Nobel Prize, check the official Nobel Prize website (search for “nobel prize telomeres and telomerase”). Scientific studies have shown that short telomeres are associated with age related decline and dysfunction and evidence clearly shows that people with longer telomeres live longer and age healthier.
What are telomeres? Human DNA is structured into chromosomes that function within cells. At the end of a chromosome (a long strand of DNA) is a telomere, which can reach a length of 15,000 base pairs. Telomeres do not contain any important information and protect the important parts of the DNA. They get shorter (erode) each time cells divide (usually 25-200 base pairs per division). When the telomere becomes too short, the cell becomes old and eventually dies. Our telomeres are 15.000 base pairs long at the conception. The embryo then divides so many times, that at birth our telomeres are down to 10.000 base pairs. We lose 5.000 base pairs telomeres in the rest of our life. When the remaining telomeres are down to roughly between 3.000 and 5.000, most of us will be dead.
Knowing all this, how can we benefit from it? The good news is that you can slow telomere shortening and rejuvenate your cells by making healthy choices and lifestyle changes. But, I also came across one product, called TA-65, derived by an exclusive and proprietary extraction process from a rare Astragalus root. I seriously did my research to find competitive products, but haven’t found them (yet); if you did, please inform me. The product mentioned has reportedly been subjected to various scientific tests and is the only proven supplement to date, that lengthens telomeres and significantly decreases aging in humans. This looks like one of the most important breakthroughs in anti-aging supplements of our time, however the downside is that it is relatively expensive. On the other hand, what is expensive when it concerns your life? The cost is somewhere between EUR 5 en 6 per day (1 capsule daily) and I expect it to become cheaper over time. In some countries smoking is more expensive and a few glasses of good wine are also somewhere in that price range.
There are many different types of anti aging products on the market and it is not simple to choose the right anti-aging product, that does what you expect it to do. The only way to lengthen telomeres is through the activation of the enzyme telomerase. Telomerase Activation works on targeted cells in your body and will improve cell longevity and also quality of life. A double-blind, placebo-controlled study of the earlier mentioned product, based on this science, showed improvements in:
- immune system
- vision
- male sexual performance
- skin appearance
- and more...
If you are about to start using an anti-aging product, it is important that you do some research. You could seek the advice from a professional or do as I did and do some research on the internet until you find a product that’s right for you. I recommend the earlier mentioned product as it works very well for me and reportedly in particular when you are forty or older. When you’re interested in a deep dive regarding this matter, the book “The Immortality Edge” where Dr Dave Woynarowski discusses the effects that telomeres and telomerase have on increasing lifespan and preventing disease, is certainly worthwhile to read. I came across a quote which basically said that he added 250 base pairs, which is unprecedented and reportedly represents at least 2 to 3 years of “age reversal”.
Human cells have the potential to live a lot longer or even live forever, which is directly related to the expression of an enzyme called telomerase, which is present in almost all cells, but "turned off". To me it is clear that we should somehow turn it on!
What do you think?
