What is A Anxiety Disorder

Anxiety is something that most people will suffer, from time to time. It is a natural emotional response to many situations in life and is completely normal and healthy, as long as it is not enabling you to live a normal life.

Natural anxiety reactions may be feelings of anxiousness, or being nervous about something that is coming up. Example; an upcoming test may make a person feel really nervous about passing, and anxious about getting it done and over with. These are normal, natural reactions.

What is not normal, are anxiety disorders. What is a anxiety disorder, you may ask? It is anxiety that happens very often, over the smallest of situations. It can happen so often, and cause a person to worry in an obsessive amount. Usually, anxiety disorders are extreme and

effects a persons life negatively.

What are different types of anxieties and their symptoms

Panic disorder is a type of anxiety disorder and can strike a sufferer at any given time. When a person suffers from panic disorder they may feel a sudden panic, out of the blue, over and over again. Symptoms that a person may have when suffering with panic disorder include; heart palpitations, chest pain, sweaty palms, feeling of impending doom, and a feeling that they are going crazy.

Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), is when a person suffers from certain fears, which cause them to perform rituals over and over to prevent their fear from coming true. An example of this disorder is someone who has a fear if germs, they will wash their hands several times through out the day, to make sure they have no germs on them. Sometimes people with ocd have a lucky number they use when completing certain tasks, they must do them a number of times so something "bad" doesn't happen.

Social anxiety disorder is when a person has a overwhelming fear of meeting new people and will usually try to avoid meeting new people or try to avoid any social situations which make them feel very uncomfortable. They are very self conscious and fear being judged by others around them.

Generalized anxiety is when a person has excessive, unrealistic worries at times when there usually is nothing that provokes them.

Post traumatic stress disorder (ptsd) is a disorder that happens after a traumatic event in a persons life, that may cause them to live in fear. People that suffer from ptsd usually relive a traumatic event, over and over in their head. Ptsd can cause a sufferer to become emotionally numb.

If you feel that you might be suffering from any of these anxiety disorders, you should speak with your Dr. and look into treatment that is suitable for you.
