Essential Oils for Eyes

Our eyes are usually one of the first things we look at on another person, they help us to feel connected to another person or to have an understanding of that person, they tell a tale about who we are.

Some eyes have a sadness to them and others are full of joy and happiness. Have you heard the saying that the eyes are the window to the soul?

Some women spend lots of time and money trying to make their eyes look more attractive, lots of money is spent on eye make-up and mascara each year but no amount of make-up can hide the problems that affect the delicate area of skin under the eyes.

Other things that can affect our eyes are puffy bags, creased skin, crows feet and dark circles. Getting enough sleep will help a lot, as will drinking enough fresh water per day but essential oils can also be a saviour and help us to retain more beautiful eyes throughout life.

Because the skin beneath the eyes is very fragile, much care needs to be taken when using essential oils on this are of skin. Only the very lightest of oils should be used and also the minimum amount of oil should be used.

Below I have grouped great essential oils for the eyes in age ranges. You will need to blend the ingredients together and then, using the lightest touch around the eye, smooth the oil on. Leave the oil for a few minutes before gently wiping away the excess. The oil should be applied in this way every night before you go to sleep.

  • 10ml of hazelnut oil
  • 2 drops of borage seed oil
  • 1 drop of carrot oil
  • 1 drop of chamomile german

  • The oil from one vitamin E capsule

Age Range - 40 to 45 years

Dark Circles and Puffy Eyes

The next mixture is wonderful for treating dark circles and puffiness. You will need to make the witch hazel ice cold before you dissolve the essential oils into it and then place this mixture in the fridge.

Next, get a cotton wall ball and wrap it around an ice cube as best you can. Dip the cotton wool into the cool witch hazel mixture and place it over your closed eye where it is puffy. Leave it in place for a few seconds and then rub a small amount of hazelnut oil onto the still wet skin.

  • 10ml of hazelnut oil
  • 1 tablespoon of witch hazel
  • 2 drops of chamomile german
  • 2 drops of fennel

Tired Eyes

Tired eyes are helped tremendously by green or rosehip tea. Make up a normal green or rosehip tea, let it go cold and place it in the fridge. Whenever your eyes feel tired, dab a small amount around your eyes using a cotton ball and feel it’s effects.

Wishing you health and wellness the natural way.
