Chiropractic Care for Arthritis

It seems nearly everyone from medical practitioners to your Uncle Fred or next door neighbor has a quick fix for the relief and pain of arthritis. And if you care to do your own research on the subject, it may surprise you to find enough different types of not only arthritis, but solutions, as well. The elderly don't have a monopoly on this painful disease any more. Younger boys and girls are or can be targets, too. And you will easily recognize the symptoms when your knuckles and fingers begin to swell.

All that said, many victims of arthritis usually try to "gut-it-out" using solutions that run the gamut from home remedies, shots of cortisone, prescription drugs, or over-the-counter medication. Oh sure, these options may provide temporary relief, and you can continue down this path of treatment if you enjoy having a needle stuck in your hip, knee or spine. All this approach simply because your doctor forgot to mention that the real reason for this conundrum is nothing more than a breakdown in your joint cartilage.

On the other hand, if we open the book of common sense you’ll find that chiropractic help for most arthritic conditions can provide long-term benefits from chiropractic treatments, and should be considered an adjunct to other medical care, especially if you have osteoarthritis, which is the most common in younger men. However, the problem here is that osteoarthritis is usually treated with anti-inflammatory meds and nothing else which is a mistake, and only exacerbates the existing problem. The fact is, if continued on a regular basis, it has been proven that it will impair the healing rate of cartilage as well as causing damage to the lining of your stomach and can often result in stomach bleeding.

If you receive chiropractic treatment along with laser treatment, regular gentle, regular exercise and a sensible diet, you can ultimately cancel your addiction to anti-inflammatory medication. There are various forms of arthritis such as inflammatory arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis (one of the worst) and psoriatic arthritis. You should be aware that there is no real cure for these conditions. This means you'll continue to have peaks and valleys, wherein medication can help to control the pain in order to avoid damaging your joints. Yet chiropractic treatment has been found to be one of the most useful therapies for these conditions and helps control the symptoms.

In younger people, it was found the most common forms of arthritis were rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis which are autoimmune diseases in which the body attacks itself. Also, the younger generation should also be cognizant of septic arthritis caused by a joint infection that can manifest itself via bacterial or viral. But keep in mind that you can safely manage osteoarthritis and degenerative discs, by using a chiropractic care approach in order to be able to manage pain from these types of conditions.

It's probably safe to assume that most of the younger set haven't a clue about chiropractic help or how it works to relieve the pain in your body. So let us introduce you to the key word: Manipulation. For chronic symptoms of arthritis or to provide relief from monolithic episodes of pain as a result of osteoarthritis in the neck or lower back area, chiropractic manipulation can possibly be the answer. At a young age, you may not know the philosophy for manipulation is that joint dysfunction in the spinal column can produce pain so violent in can bring tears to your eyes. Ergo, mobilizing the spinal joints via manipulations (adjustments) can quickly decrease that pain.

Finally, you should know that the spinal column from your neck to your lower back is what keeps you alive. And if injured it becomes dysfunctional, the result being pain and plenty of it. Chiropractic manipulation works and is performed by a licensed chiropractor or doctor of osteopathic medicine or a trained and experienced physical therapist. Therapeutic massage can, for the most part, be the catalyst that reduces osteoarthritis pain and improve circulation. It's also worth noting that this type of care can be helpful in reducing stress and muscle tension that often pervades those of a younger age.
