Signs Of Rheumatoid Arthritis

This is a long - term disease that affects very many people worldwide. It leads to inflammation of the joints and the surrounding tissues and can also affect other organs. Unfortunately, very few people know about it. This is why it is important to know the signs of rheumatoid arthritis early for one to seek treatment on time.

Some of the signs of rheumatoid arthritis include:

  • Frequent morning joint pains

Many people believe that waking up after long hours of sleep and feeling joint pain is normal. However, this might be an early sign of the disease. The pain is felt at the wrists, elbows, shoulders, neck and ankles. In case you experience such discomfort, seek medical attention.

  • Muscle cramps and stiffness

Generally, this cannot be classified as pain as it is normally more of discomfort than pain. You feel your joints are stiff and at times you are unable to move certain parts of your body.

  • General loss of appetite

This is mainly observed when you start losing weight at a fast rate and with no urge to eat. As a result, you feel tired and find yourself fatigued most of the time. However, you should check if other symptoms are there before concluding that you have this disease.

  • Fatigue

This is a common sign caused by joint pains and general body stiffness. This brings about exhaustion and tiredness to the body causing lack of energy. When this happens on regular basis, it could be an early sign of the disease.

  • Chest pains

Due to inflammation in the lining of the chest and lungs caused by the disease, one starts to experience chest pains when inhaling and exhaling. Symptoms such as flu, fever, dry cough and general body weakness could be a sign of inflammation in the chest. This brings about difficulties in breathing. The inflammation can also result to dry mouth and dry eyes as it affects the tear and saliva producing glands.

  • Redness and soreness at the joints

Do you constantly feel odd joint warmth? This might be a sign of the disease too. Because of the warmth, the joints become red and tender leading to a discomforting feeling. However, if the redness goes away after a few days, there might be nothing to worry about. But if it persists for some time, it is important to seek medical attention so that you get help while the disease is still on its early stages. This goes a long way in saving many people's lives.
