Hi Street Article members. I’d like to give some advice about some SEO strategies and how to get your articles to rank much higher, especially if you’re barely getting any traffic. It's important to know how to correctly optimize your articles with both basic and advanced SEO strategies.
Basic SEO Strategies –
1. Probably the most important is the h1 tag (your title). Depending on what you put on your title, this is the most powerful factor that determines how your article will be ranked in Google and other search engines. I’ve personally found that when you’re going after a little more competitive keywords, using the exact keyword that you’re targeting can be more beneficial to you than adding extra words to it.
2. H2 tags, which should consist of at least your h1 tag keyword, are keywords you target within your actual article. A good density you need to have for your articles are 1% or higher. If you have a high keyword density, it’s preferable to not go over 3% density or you can actually start hurting your SEO with too much believe it or not. You can check the keyword density in your articles using Word by pressing Ctrl and F at the same time.
3. Have high quality content. Thanks to Street Articles guidelines and how they display their content, you don’t have to worry about this too much because they have this covered for you. I’ve explored and experimented with some of the top article directories today and I believe that Street Articles truly is ahead of its time.
4. Use your links on your articles affectively. By doing so, you’ll increase the amount of actual clicks you get on your articles. You can have 2, 3, 4, or at the most 5 links to different sources on your article. I’ve written one 6,000 worded + article and 5 is the most even for that so I know it doesn’t go higher than that (as of right now anyway).
Advanced SEO Strategies –
1. Google determines the effectiveness of an article by how many outbound links it has in conjunction with the quality content it contains. The more varied your outbound links are, the more it will appeal to Google’s robots for indexing.
2. Backlink your Street Articles. Just think for a little, you get 2 links for each article at least up to a max of 5. If you use 1 link to your actual website, you potentially have the important part covered. But what about the other available links? Well, you can potentially use these links to link to OTHER Street Articles you’ve written so you increase the backlink juice to your other articles. Why would it matter to do this? It matters to do this because when Google determines the quality of a certain article, 2 major factors they look at are if it’s high quality content and how many inbound links the article has. So the more inbound links you have to your articles (links from other sources pointing to your article), the more appealing it is to Google’s bots, thus ranking higher.
3. Use other directories affectively by creating special inbound and outbound links to and from your articles forming a web of all your articles relating to a certain niche you’ve written about. Examples of this could include Facebook, Youtube, Squidoo, Hubpages, Ezine Articles, Technorati, and Yahoo. But of course you can get by with only using Street Articles, because for one the high quality content they push for makes them easily number 1 in that department and creating a strong presence on 1 article directory is often much smarter than spreading yourself thin.
UPDATE: as of 2/15/2012, you're able to read the 2nd and last article over how to rank high in Street Articles, Fully Explained.
