What do people want to read? What are they interested in? It is a good idea to know what people are interested in and what they want to read so that you can focus on these topics when you write articles. How do you learn this information?
One way to find out is to listen. What do you and your friends talk about when you go out for lunch? Do you talk about what you saw on television recently, such as who was voted off "American Idol"? You could write about what you saw in the contestant's performance that caused him to be voted off, such as lack of eye contact with the audience, poor stage presence, poor song choice, or extreme nervousness.
Another way to find out is to notice what people read. Do you notice people gravitating toward the suspense section of the bookstore or library? Why do people like suspense? Think about reasons why people like suspense novels, and write an article about that. Have many people read an online article about starting your own business? Consider writing articles on why to start a business and the types of businesses to choose from.
A third way to find out what people want to read is to see what is trending on the social networks. If a topic is trending, it is on people's minds. They are talking about it. If they are talking about it, they would be interested in reading about it. This time of year, people are thinking about topics such as prom, state tests, graduation, and summer plans. Consider an article on a topic such as how to survive a state test, for example. Write about taking a deep breath, reading each question carefully, and being careful not to obsess over the clock. It is very important to pace yourself during a test, however. Do not get careless, but do not spend too much time on one question. Consider doing an article like this. It could be very helpful to students who are about to take a major test, such as the California Achievement Test (CAT Test). You could also write about great books to read over the summer, such as James Patterson's Kiss the Girls. Another idea is where to go to celebrate your graduation. You could write about places where graduates might want to go, such as Disney World, Disneyland, or Six Flags, for example. There are many topics to consider. Once you have found out what people want to read, you will have a better idea of what to write about.
One thing that is likely to happen once you have learned what people want to read about is that you will get many "likes" on Facebook. Many likes will draw more readers, which will help you. With more likes comes more money for you.
Another thing that might happen is that your friends will share your article with their friends. They will then read it and share it with their friends. All of the "sharing" will help to increase your earnings.
There are many topics to choose from. When you write what people want to read, you will experience success.
Sorry Hollie I don't agree with you on somethings, I think when selecting a topic on which to write one must also have a passion for the subject, to sit and expound on a subject to which you are either not really interested in or lack total knowledge can also destroy a good read. It can do as much damage to your popularity as good. A certain amount of you must be readable in an article, use your heart as well when writing, passion comes across in an article, one can read it and feel it. I write from the heart and head and sometimes after finishing an article I think what a lot of Hogs-wallop I have just written, but it gets published and attracts good reads and comments. So don't forget the passion and heart when choosing what to write on, and then I think the success follows. Just my thoughts, not a lesson, I love your writing and articles keep it up.
Passion and heart are very important. Good point. Thanks for reading. :)
