I generally do not watch much television. Usually, I am busy working on articles, publishing, looking for ideas for articles, listening to my favorite artists, such as Pink and Maroon 5, running, or fixing meals. However, I do have shows that I enjoy, such as "The Voice", "Everybody Loves Raymond", and "The King of Queens". When I watch the shows that I love, I want to be able to see them through in their entirety, with no interruptions. However, it is usually during these shows that I do get interrupted.
I might hear from well-meaning family members, who simply want to know how I am doing. Since my family does not live near me, they rarely get to see me. Therefore, they want to know what is going on in my life. When they call, they usually want to talk for a bit. They often want to know if I am leaving my house to go walking. I then explain to them that because of the area where we live, I run inside. In addition to my physical activity, however, they might ask about other things, such as my writing. To these questions, I respond that I love what I am doing, and I look forward to writing more. Family members are not the only people who interrupt my shows, however.
I might also get a call from one of my lenders, who is calling to ask if I wish to make a payment on my student loans. Fortunately, these calls are usually brief. I make arrangements to delay payments on my loans, end the call, and get off the phone. Fortunately, there is a solution to both of these problems: the Pause button.
When someone calls and interrupts a show that I am watching, I simply hit Pause and answer the phone. My program then stands still where I paused it while I deal with my caller. Because of this button, I do not have to feel as though I am being cheated out of the shows that I love. I can answer the phone, deal with the call, hang up, and then pick up where I left off. I can get back to the laughter, excitement, and suspense that makes a good day great.
I am sure that you, too, have shows that you love, and your shows also get interrupted by phone calls. If you get a call, hit "Pause", and answer the phone. The call might be important. Hopefully, it will be brief. Then, after the call, you can return to what you love.
