In this article, we will be looking at the power gratitude has on our lives. We will look at simple ways to start using the power of gratitude to help make remarkable and noticeable changes to your own life.
We all like to feel appreciated. How do you feel when someone tells you that you did a great job? How about when someone gives you a sincere card or letter saying just how much you mean to them? Words of thanks towards others is a very powerful way of setting into motion positive things coming back to you.
We live in a universe of reciprocity. What we give out comes back to us. This is why we must learn to give out gratitude towards others. Words of kindness towards everyone we know and meet. This does not have to be "tacky" or too over the top. Obviously you don't want to come off like a nut case and say things that are over the top to people when just a simple thanks is all that is required. You are the one that is the best judge of what to say. Just be sincere. It might be just one word ... thanks!
I have been trying to make gratitude and words of kindness towards others a daily occurrence, however this is not always easy as we tend to easily slip back into our conditioned negative thought patterns. Keeping daily gratitude at the front of our minds is not an easy task. When I found the 30 day gratitude challenge, I was very keen to participate. It has been life changing for so many people who have taken the challenge.
The 30 Day Gratitude Challenge is simple. It involves sending a simple card to one person every day for 30 days. This sounded like a daunting task at first. I didn't know if I knew 30 people to say thank you to until I sat down and thought about it. It turned out I had not only 30 people to be thankful for but hundreds! Family, friends, co-workers, service providers and even cards of thanks to people I have never met. Think about it, you might have never met they person that empties your trash can, but imagine sending a card of thanks to the company simply saying that whoever the person is that services your area is doing a great job! That simple act could make that persons day. Who knows? It might even be that one act of kindness towards another at the right time to save a life. Never underestimate the power of gratitude.
Our acts of kindness have a flow-on effect to others and back to ourselves.
The 30 Day Gratitude Challenge has (as of the time of writing this article) been the cause of over 3 million cards sent out worldwide.
So true, Nik, its the little things in life, like a thankyou, or praise for a job well done, offering a helping hand that makes all the difference. I enjoyed reading your article
