It's Sat morning, you have your coffee, newspaper, mobile phone and a pocket full of money. It is time to head out to the garage sales.
If you sell on Amazon, Ebay, Craigslist or any other online selling platform, you know that finding good inexpensive items to resell is the key to your business. Garage sales are great places to find inventory to resale online. This type of inventory sourcing is fun, easy to do, very profitable, and doesn't take a lot of money to invest. You can spend $10 to $30 and make a couple hundred dollars very easy.
There is always a way to make money with everything that is sold at a garage sale but you want to get to know certain things and then repeat the process over and over. This will make you money go further and will keep you profit margins high. Trying to learn how to sell every item is much to hard to keep up with.
Here is a list of items I like to look for. Books, board games, cell phones, puzzles, DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes, and power tools. Books are my favorite and the first thing I head for. If the prices are not posted or the books not marked with the asking price I always ask how much they are before I start looking though them. You don't want to have a stack of 25 books, the sellers knows you want them and you start trying to ask prices then. It will be higher than if you had asked before you started looking though them. Books are easy to scan, the profit is usually $10 for every dollar spent and easy to list online. Most of the books I buy are non fiction books, text books, audio books and self help books. Board games are great too. You can buy a game for $2 and sell it for $10 to $15 dollars all day long. Make sure to check for all the pieces. There will be a list, with the game's instructions, of the pieces that come with the game.
Learning what to look for takes time and research. It is a great way to learn the selling process and make some money too. The worst thing you can do is break even on the item and that won't happen very often, but is will help you learn what to look for and what to pay.
So head out next weekend and try a few, you will be surprised what people sell at their garage sell and how little they want for it.
To sell any products online you need a proper well maintained shopping kart. Some sites offered selling old as well as new products but they take some registration fee for new sellers. If you are in Australia there is OswillShopping free online selling site which guides you to sell your products online that too for free. There are many other sites as well.
