Formula 1 In North America!

Formula 1 is coming to town!

With just over a week to go before the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix, the city of Montréal is gearing up for its yearly celebration of motorsport at its best. Many of you are undoubtedly die-hard F1 fans, while others love NASCAR or the Indy 500 and can't see what all the fuss is about. Some have probably never heard of Formula 1, despite its growing popularity since its inception in the 1950s. Well, now is the time to experience it for yourselves!

Formula 1 is an evolving sport like no other. Over the last 60 years, F1 technology has inspired designers and engineers to produce the cars we drive today. F1 cars use cutting edge technology, which evolves from week to week. There are typically 20 races in a season which begins in March and ends in November and spans the globe from Australia to South East Asia, from Japan and China to Europe and from Canada to Brazil. Each F1 team fields 2 cars per race culminating in a world championship for both drivers and teams. Famous victors in recent times include Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher, who have won two, four and seven titles respectively.

The race venues are typically purpose built race circuits like the Gilles Villeneuve track in Montréal or Austin, Texas, while some of the older venues are street circuits like the famous Monaco Grand Prix, which takes place in Monte Carlo each year. For many, Monaco represents the sport at its best - cars racing around the streets of a glamorous location with no room for error. Those preferring high speed tracks with plenty of overtaking will no doubt prefer Montréal with its long straights and high speed corners, or Austin with its steep gradients and unforgiving bends.

Whichever race you choose to watch live, you won't be disappointed. Formula 1 is a truly thrilling sport which has a global following. Montréal is the host city for the next race which takes place from June 5th-7th. There is a fantastic Motorsport festival in the city in the week building up to the race. Please get in touch or leave any feedback and I'll do my best to reply as soon as I can. If you have any questions about my article or anything to do with Formula 1 I'd love to hear from you!
