An Autoresponder Turned Advertising Powerhouse

Hopefully you have signed up for an autoresponder account and are ready to create an email campaign. If not, get one now, I prefer AWeber.

Now AWeber has some great tutorials on how to get started and how to use their products and service, but what I want to get you thinking about is how to supercharge your sales by using the autoresponder in an unconventional way. Most Internet Marketers out there set up their autoresponders to give something away (bonus, newsletter, free report, ect.) and collect an email address. The standard email confirmation is sent, the standard redirect to the Thank You page is setup, the standard follow-up is sent with a download link or the first newsletter, blah blah blah all the same old standard stuff everyone is doing it, thanks for joining the masses.

I was using my autoresponder just like everyone else. I was giving away a free product in return for an email address. Then I would send an email promoting a great product for sale which I would then get an affiliate commission on if the customer signed up or bought the product (standard affiliate marketing stuff).

But then I started to look at the whole process in another way, I had an idea, how about using the autoresponder to get ads in front of my prospective customer from the moment they hit the submit button and at every step of the way to getting that free download or newsletter. That is precisely what I did and I increased my conversion rate by almost 3%. Now 3% does not seem like a huge deal but it is when you get over 2,187 visitors a month to your site and you have a product paying you $14.00 on a re-occurring monthly basis.

Before I changed my autoresponder I was converting about 1.8% or 40 sales a month, that = $560. After I changed the way I used my autoresponder I converted 4.7% or 103 sales a month, that = $1,442. I was making almost an extra $1,000 for making some simple changes to a process that was already working!

I had finally broken (actually exploded thru) the $1,000 per month barrier (only took me 10 months). Now all I had to do is replicate this on 10 websites and now we are talking about some serious money (still working on this I have 7 sites and only 1 so far has exceeded the $1,000 mark).

So how did I do it???

I added image ads and text links to every part of the autoresponder process. Now this was not as easy as it sounds because AWeber does not allow you to freely edit all aspects of the autoresponder process or add HTML to email responses. You will need to setup some web pages and not use the standard Thank You and redirect pages that AWeber defaults to, but with a little bit of work and a few simple changes you can place an ad at every step of the autoresponder process.

The process is explained in full and it is a bit long for this Article so I created a PDF document you can download for free. In this AutoResponder BluePrint I show you step by step how I changed every customer contact throughout the autoresponder sequence to display an advertisement. I kept all the ads the same and for the same product therefore providing consistency throughout the process. This is very important because if you change products your customer will just be confused and will not buy anything.

PS. I have never used IContact or any other autoresponder software / service so I do not know if the steps provided will work exactly the same as how AWeber is setup. But the idea is still the same and I am sure that they are very similar to AWeber and with a few tweaks to the blueprint it will work with any autoresponder.

Cheers to Your Success

See You Out There!!
