We are now at day 11 in the search for the Boeing 777 of Malaysian Airlines flight 370 that disappeared after taking off from Kuala Lumpur on its way to Beijing.
A lot of resources from a lot of countries have been deployed in the mammoth search and so far not a single trace of any explanation as to what might have happened has been found.
So here are three theories which I am sure have been put in the melting pot but have but are still not unproven.
Theory 1
Somehow a terrorist group brainwashed one or both of the pilots. Once they got to cruising altitude they were to turn off all communications and then fly the plane to some remote area where they landed the plane and passengers in tact and then taken it into a hanger hidden from satellite surveillance. The terrorist group now has a Boeing 777 and passengers and crew which can be used for bargaining. Although we probably think we know how much fuel the plane had from documentation who knows how much it actually took on. If it was more then that extends the possible landing area.
The problem with this theory is that you would have thought that at least one satellite would have picked it up somewhere.
Theory 2
There was a problem on the flight deck and both pilots lost consciousness. The plane then continued on until it ran out of fuel and crashed wherever that was. The obvious place to look for the debris would then have to be at the limit of the planes flying range on the amount of fuel that it was carrying.
The issue here is that whatever happened on the flight deck would have also had to take out all the communication systems.
Theory 3
What about aliens from outer space who managed to totally vaporize the plane so that it vanished without trace!!
Hard though it is to imagine this could explain the complete disappearance of the plane.
Today’s Debate
So the search goes on. Each day there is endless debate as to what happened with very few facts. CNN have a panel of experts all of whom have differing views. It is interesting to watch those who believe the plane crashed vie against those who believe the plane is still intact and all the passengers and crew are still alive. They even have a pilot and reporter in a 777 flight simulator trying to reproduce all sorts of scenarios.
Let’s hope some real evidence comes to light soon.
