Every parent has at some time or another wondered if there was a way to eliminate the pain suffered by their offspring that is associated with teething.
While this is not impossible, it can be tricky to provide that comfort that your baby needs during the time their deciduous teeth are coming through.
It isn’t always easy to soothe teething pain that your baby is experiencing and while you are going to do your utmost to prevent your little one from suffering, you may at times wonder if it is possible without the use of pain killers.
The good news is that there are options to explore that may well help your child during this trying time.
The first thing you can try, is to give your baby some hard object to chew on like a biscuit. You will find a variety of biscuits that are specifically designed to give to your child when they are teething and it is also possible to make up your own teething biscuits.
Chewing on a hard biscuit will help soothe the pain of teething and also provide a nice snack for your baby.
Another idea is to use a clean and very cold washcloth. Wrap the cloth around your finger and gently massage baby’s gums with it. Often, just the gentle pressure of rubbing the gums will reduce the pain felt and also eliminate the need for medication.
A slice of cold apple may also work well for your baby. Chewing on the apple will possibly distract your baby from their discomfort as they work hard at eating it.
Another idea to try is to give your baby a cold bottle water. This again can provide relief from the teething pain and be quite effective.
You can also use a refrigerated slice of apple for your baby as well. This will help in stopping their discomfort simply by distraction. As they then try to eat the apple they will forget about the pain.
So as you can see, with a little bit of patience and a few alternative ideas to try out, you can help to soothe the teething pain that your baby is suffering without any use of medication at all.
Alternatively you might choose to give your child a teething ring and there are quite an array of shapes and sizes available. A cold teething ring helps your baby and provides the most comfort and so you might choose a teether toy that is water filled and can be chilled nicely in the fridge.
