IS SHE READY? The first thing that you want to do is determine if your daughter is ready to be potty trained. Make sure that she is able to manuever her clothing to use the potty when it's time, and that she's showing some interest in using the toilet.

SHOPPING TRIP! The next thing to do is to take her shopping for her new undies! Let her pick them out. It can be her favorite color or cartoon character. This way, her feet are firmly placed on the floor, which will relax her pelvic muscles. It is still okay to use a toilet, just make sure that you place a step stool under her feet. Have her sit on the potty, knees apart. Also make sure that she is sitting all the way back, with her privates and bottom over the toilet or potty opening. Having her sit in this position will also help to relax the pelvic muscles.

HAVE PATIENCE Remember to be patient when you are potty training your daughter. Actually, this rule should apply to boys and girls. Expect her to have accidents and mistakes, and always remember to be supportive, reassuring and positive.
