To the proud parents of toddlers all around the world, I am very happy to introduce you to the iParenting award winning education toy, the Teach My Toddler. I'll be giving you a basic description of the Teach My Toddler, what it's intended to do, what it includes, and the review feedback I've researched so that you can be fully informed when deciding whether or not to purchase the Teach My Toddler for your toddler. Ladies and gentlemen, without further adue, the Teach My Toddler!
The Teach My Toddler toy or kit (I think of it more as a kit) was created for the purpose of teaching toddlers their all important basics: shapes, colors, the alphabet, and numbers one through ten. I love educational play, I'm a huge supporter of educating your toddler as young as possible. It's simple logic to me: the younger you start, the sooner they learn. So, needless to say, it caught my attention that the actual product description stated, "Promotes fun, educational play".
Notice the word fun. This is pretty important too. Anyone who has a child over the age of one and half knows if the activity isn't fun, your going to have a difficult time getting your child to engage in it. Remember, fun equals engagement, engagement equals learning, and learning is the ultimate goal.
Also, anyone who's read my article on the importance of making time for your toddler should remember how much I like to encourage quality time. One-on-one time is important, and the Teach My Toddler gives you a great and convenient way of doing that. It encourages that you spend 20 minutes a day working with your toddler on the various basics within the kit. So, it not only teaches your toddler all the preschool basics but, promotes your involvement to make learning time, quality time. Brilliant!
The Teach My Toddler comes with a wide variety of tools to help teach your toddler. Every toddler's learning process is different, and clearly this is something the creator kept in mind when manufacturing this product. The Teach My Toddler includes puzzles, board books, posters, and flashcards for all the different educational areas. The days of worrying about your toddler getting board with a learning activity or toy are over! Plus, it comes with a Parent Guide that lays-out how to use these tools step by step to guarantee success. I, personally, feel that's an awesome addition to this already outstanding package.
Now, what did buyers have to say about Teach My Toddler? Two words: highly educational. Even the more critical reviews of the product conceded on this topic. I saw multiple reviews stating that their toddler had mastered at least one of the four basics promoted in Teach My Toddler within the first month of use. That's simply outstanding!
I also noticed that all the reviews I read stated that their toddler got really excited upon seeing the Teach My Toddler when their parent brought it out. What does that tell you? That, clearly, the Teach My Toddler became one of their toddler's favorite toys. My son gets excited easily but, not when it comes to his toys. I alternate most of my son's toys to keep him from quickly getting bored with them but, he only gets excited about the ones he really loves (or the ones he's not suppose to have, like my cell phone).
Honestly, I didn't find very many complaints but, the most common one seemed to be that the foam pieces included in Teach My Toddler are slightly flimsy. In other words, your toddler probably has the ability to rip them or bite a chuck off. Not that big an issue as far as I'm concerned. My son has some toys made of foam and others made out of wood, either way he will bit them, throw them, and try to pull them apart. And, unfortunately, some of them pull apart more easily than others. This simply comes back to teaching your toddler appropriate play habits. I don't care if the toy is easily broken or highly resilient, I try to keep him from destroying them and show him what he's suppose to be doing with it.
Also, I noted that a lot of people commented on the "exactness" of the board pieces. The pieces are very precise so, they have to be placed exactly right on the boards in order to fit (right side up, right angle up, ect.). Some people complained about this while others loved it. The complaint was that it was too exact for a toddler to figure out but, others argued that this was a great thing because it taught the child that everything had to be placed "just so" to work properly. Personally, I agree with the latter argument. Yes, your toddler will probably get frustrated with this feature at first but, it teaches the child to play with the toy properly.
The perfect example of this is the shape sorted. My son would get very agitated that the triangle piece didn't fit in the whole intended for the rectangle but, that's the whole point of the toy. And, alas, my son did eventually figure out that the triangle only fit in the whole it was intended for so, the toy served it's purpose.
Overall, I feel that the Teach My Toddler is an excellent toy based off of all the research I've done. It appears to deliver on it's ultimate promise of teaching your toddler the basic learning skills it promotes. I'm already planning on getting one for my son's upcoming birthday! Here's hoping that you have all the success with the Teach My Toddler as many other parents and toddlers have! Thanks!
