Baby Boomer Blogs for Women

As I’m sure you know, the internet is filled with millions of blogs and the vast majority of these are launched with the intent to sell something. Further, many of these are targeted towards women because, let’s face it, women are consummate shoppers and are always on the lookout for the next best “deal”. But what about blogs for Baby Boomer women, are they effective given that the internet seems to be directed at younger age groups?

The answer is a resounding, “Yes”! Baby Boomer women have been “up the mountain and over the creek”, to coin a phrase. They were shopping when televisions were invented and someone came up with the grand scheme to start selling products on the tube. “Brand loyalty” was a keyword even back in the 50’s and 60’s. Advertisers recognized the buying power of this generation of booming moms and capitalized on it, much to the delight of their shareholders.

These blogs are two-fold:

Blogs Directed at Baby Boomer Women

The large department stores, specialty shops, and online marketers have all recognized, just like they did with TV, that the Boomer female was online and willing to buy. Websites are being designed with this demographic in mind. Why? Well, who does most of the shopping in your house? It’s typically women and now that they can shop with a cup of tea beside them they’re quite enjoying themselves.

There are, of course, scammers and everyone must be careful about spending money on these sites. Fortunately, women seem to recognize a scam artist better than men and are more likely to click away from something that triggers that “mother instinct” thing that has saved many a dollar in many a household.

Being better conversationalists, women are also more likely to engage online and leave comments and follow certain authors that they like. To that extent, some websites are even offering forums or chat rooms and inviting “women only” to come and chat with their online friends. And they are doing it and enjoying it. In my online travels I often come across these websites. However, if the article I’m reading is a particularly good one I will leave a comment, including some lame disclaimer about being a guy and “excuse me ladies”. They’re always so gracious, too.

Blogs Written by Baby Boomer Women

As we Boomers get more and more comfortable online, we’re learning that we, too, can create our own websites and blog to our heart’s content. And, arguably, none can do it better than Baby Boomer women.

Bringing their many years of experience gained from huge technological advances, these women are buying domains, figuring out hosting, and sending out their message to the world! No longer afraid of even turning the danged computer on, they’re now choosing their domain platforms, adding widgets and images, and even learning how to code (they likely know “html” better than me).

They may be blogging about their families, their hobbies, their travels, or even their new beau (dating sites have really taken off), the list is endless. And they’re talking to one another and supporting each other’s websites. Baby Boomer women are taking over the "blogosphere"!
