Do you have poor health and living choices? Do you think that reading or writing about them could change how you take care of yourself? Would you believe that blogging about your health could actually improve your health?
CAUTION: this article is not intended to provide medical or health advice. Please consult with your personal physician or other health care provider.
But…
This article is intended to raise awareness of the importance of our health and what we as Baby Boomers can do to improve it. Why? Read on.
1. Change by osmosis: When anyone starts hearing about or reading about health issues there is, regardless of what they tell you, the opportunity to make changes in their health choices. Just as food absorbs into our bodies, information and knowledge about health choices will eventually “absorb” into our minds and strengthen us to make changes.
Confession time, I do not have the best health habits and definitely need to change my choices. As I've researched various articles and topics within my writing niche I've often come across websites that speak to the health needs of Baby Boomers. Through these, I am again recognizing that I need to quit doing certain things in order to improve my health.
It may take the message many tries, and years, to get through but I find that when I’m actively searching for change and “best practices” I begin to realize how this applies…to me! This kind of reinforcement is often needed for us to change habits that have taken a lifetime to learn.
Why…
2. Live longer: is not eternal life a great goal? Well, maybe not realistic but let’s go with the “live as long as you can” argument. You can do this by improving your life choices, whatever they may be. Your spouse, your kids, your grand kids...everybody…will thank you for this because they really do want you around for as long as possible.
It's well documented that Baby Boomers are living longer because of these life choices. But we have to start now, not on our retirement day, if we want to stretch out our golden years. We already know that:
• Smoking causes cancer
• We need to eat our vegetables…and fruit
• Alcoholism is an addiction
• Exercise, targeted for Boomers, is good for us
Maybe you’re already doing these things and more or you never did them to begin with. That’s great! This is an encouragement to everyone else and is a confirmation that we all need to “do what we know to be right”.
Wait a minute…
This article was intended to be about Baby Boomers blogging about health. How did it get sidetracked into a healthy life-styles article? Simple…it’s an article about blogging and about health. The two go hand in hand.
If you are a Baby Boomer seeking to create a website and you have knowledge and/or experience about healthy choices, lifestyles, and living…then you are well equipped to blog about it. Not only will you be passing on great stories and information you will also be able to influence someone else’s choices and maybe help them realize they need to make changes to really enjoy their retirement years.
Look at the points above: “osmosis” and “live longer”…you may have information someone else needs. What a great opportunity that is and a great topic to blog about!
Thanks for reading.
Another Great Idea from Rick. How is that for a blog name?
Should just quit and then write about that. Thanks for reading
