Some days I have pedestrian thoughts. My genius I’ve decided is a part-timer or has other gigs. Life within my genius is passionate, exhilarating, inspired and emotional. Life in my pedestrian world is boring, with my thoughts primarily being petty, dark and kinda mean.
Socrates says “The unexamined life is not worth living”. I went to a Nazareth concert Sunday and we had to wait extended periods of time while the lead singer took oxygen (true story). We spent the time examining the culture we were surrounded by; the hair colorings, the lifts, the botox. Life in genius mode is all love, unfortunately, my genius had left the body.
As a neer’ to do baby boomer, I appreciate all the tools and attention we are getting. The annual conference of innovative thinkers are focusing their attention to care of the world’s aging population this year. Technological companies are starting whole Divisions for the up and coming boom of the 65 and older crowd.
* Google’s car turns, brakes and accelerates all on its own, using video cameras, radio sensors and a laser range finder to “see” other traffic. The driverless car is one of the latest projects undertaken by Google X, the company’s “secret” laboratory facility.
* QMedic monitors physical activity, sleep and falls. “QMedic enables seniors to age in place while keeping them connected, healthy, and safe in the home,” .
* Intel-GE’s partnership is bringing technology like a wristband that can measure and transmit when you are awake, when you are sleeping, how fast your heart is beating, etc. This wristband thing, can you take it off ?
*Neurotrack Technologies has the ability to diagnose Alzheimer’s Disease “years before symptoms appear,”.
Geniuses, I wonder if they wake up in the morning genius or if they have to find it and then flip the switch. I have learned if I shut my eyes and look up between my eyebrows and start saying the words, “I am not this body, not even this mind”, my genius will visit. Sometimes she stays and plays and sometimes she just passes through. I don’t want to invent a driverless car or a hovering coffee pot, I want to invent a heart machine, not to help it beat but to help it feel.
The next time my genius comes out, I want to invent a happy head/heart pill. Similar to antibuse…if a crummy thought comes out of my mouth or even into my head, I lose a fingernail or grow a hemorrhoid. Leverage baby, it works with the animals, it works with the kids.
