Millions of people in the world suffer everyday from severe lower back pain.More work hours are lost every year due to chronic back pain than any other illness.Just about every person i have spoke to about how to relieve back pains say the same thing, lie flat on your back and do nothing.Well this might have been the case twenty years ago but not today.I myselfe tried this method when i suffered from severe lower back pain and everyday it just got worse.I coudn,t go to work i coudn't play with the kids and life in genral was pretty rotten.
I went to the doctor and he told me that i had sciatica,I had heard of this condition before as my dad used to get it.This really depressed me because every day he complained about severe lower back pain and never ever seemed to get better.Any way the doctor prescribed me diclofenic which did little good and gave me terrible idigestion.I decided enough was enough and started trawling the internet for ways i could relieve the pain myselfe in the comfort of my own home.
I must have visited a hundred sites and most of them agreed on one thing, there probably wasn't anything wrong with my actual spine and that it was probably the lower back muscles that were the problem. With this in mind i set about learning how to correct this lower back muscle problem.I soon found out that lying on your back doing nothing was the worst thing you can do as all that does is weaken the muscles and ligaments around the lower back.
Exercise was the key and that pleased me a lot as being inactive for so long was really getting on my wick. The first and easiest exercising i started was walking, even slow gentle walks can start working the muscles. This was hard at first because the sciatica was shooting pains down my leg but i still manged at least one good walk a day.The next exercise on the agenda was swimming, now this really got the lower back muscles working as well as all the other muscles which kept everything balanced out nicely.
My chronic lower back pain was starting to get better and i decide it was time to hit the gym.I would start with ten minutes on the exercise bike to warm up and then a good ten minutes on the mat giving my lower back muscles a good stretch and also my glutes and hamstrings. Then i would start with some squats followed up with some leg extensions and then also some leg curls. Then i would work on the rest of my back and core to make sure there were no muscle imbalances. All this took around one month and at the end of that month i was feeling like my old self,i still keep up the excercise routine now and touch wood i have not suffered from severe lower back pain since,i'm able to work without pain and i have my life back.
