Many people still think filing bankruptcy without an attorney is not a possible thing to do. They think filing bankruptcy without an attorney is a wonder to do. Well, it is not, and you are allowed by law to do so!

After all, this is a time when your financial situation is at an all-time low. Of course, the reality after declaring yourself bankrupt is that you may not be able to imagine paying out any more money, for anything. This is a time when you need to cut down on your expenses so drastically that, even buying groceries may even seem to you as a stretch. So, at this time, is filing bankruptcy without an attorney a way out?

While I am not directly advocating filing bankruptcy without an attorney as an easy option here, I know that bankruptcy can assist you with paying back your debt and put smiles to your gloomy face once again. I know that hiring an attorney is the best idea, but you can think of filing bankruptcy without an attorney if you do not have the resources, rather than give up on what seems to be your only hope of getting out of debt. So, this article is meant to put you through all the answers you need about filing bankruptcy without an attorney.

To start with, let me say that you should never assume that you cannot afford an attorney. Who knows, you just may be in for a "pro-bono" or for a free attorney. You can even be lucky enough to enjoy the benefits of some law schools which offer free legal services or some municipalities which offer a kind of legal service programs. So, if you believe you want legal services, of course, there are ways to getting it, without paying a dime.

But if you are not lucky enough to get a free legal service, do not lose all hope! Think of filing bankruptcy without an attorney. Once you do not have much property, assets and your credit situation is not really bad, you can be lucky enough to get away with filing your own bankruptcy claims.

There are standard forms to fill in line with the requirements of the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy. The court clerk will be glad to intimate you with any schedules that have not been filled out properly. You can get bankruptcy law questions and official form online. So, you should be willing to do routine paperwork by yourself and you know what? At the end of the day, you save at least $1,000 or more in retainer fees.

If you are thinking of filing bankruptcy without an attorney, you can get a paralegal to fill out the forms for you, to be on the safe side. This person is there to help you fill out the forms and is not authorized to give you any legal advice. So, if you hire a petition preparer, their duty is not to answer any legal questions. You should not allow them to sign a document and they do not have to be paid for court fees.
