Basketball Games to Play

Basketball is one of the most popular games on the planet. There are many variations of the game you can play.

Basketball Games to play

21

One of the best basketball games to play. You can play this game with 2 players, but I reccommend that you play it with 3 or more to have more fun. 21 is not a team game, that nobody has a team everybody plays individually against everybody else.

There are many rule variations of 21, the rules are:

The game begins with one free throw or three point shot. If you make the shot you keep shooting free throws until you miss or make 3 in a row. If a free throw is missed the other players are allowed to rebound the shot and play. The player that rebounds the ball has to try to score against everybody else. All the rules apply except there are no out of bounds or personal fouls.

Free throws count for one point while shots made when the ball is in play count for 2 and if you want to count 3 pointers as 3 you can. After every made shot the player that makes the shot has to shoot free throws until he makes 3 or misses, if he misses the other players are allowed to tip the ball on the rebound and reset that players score to 0. If the player makes 3 conscecutive free throws then the he gets the ball at the three point line and play resumes.

When one player reaches 21 points the game is over. When we play the player that reaches 20 points must make his next shot/free throw or his score goes back to 0 again also when a player scores more than 13 points he must be tipped twice to go back to 0.

21 is a very fun game if you don't have enough people to play 3 on 3 or 5 on 5. I know that when we play it, it gets intense. It's a good way to find out who is the best player on the court.

Around The World

The 3 point shooting game. The rules are flexible but the way I play it is:

Each player must make 5 or 7 three point shots depending on what you agree upon. The starting point is a corner three, and the ending point is a corner three from the other side. Each player has to make the 3 to advance to the next spot. The first player to make 6 or 8 three pointers going from one side to the other wins. The center shot is the third one if you play it to 5 and if you play it to 7 the center shot is the fourth.

When we play it the person who misses a shot starts over but you can play it however you want.

H-O-R-S-E

Another fun basketball games to play is HORSE. The rules are:

Whoever starts gets the first shot, if he/she misses the next person gets the next shot if the shot is made then all the other players have to make the same shot, if one player misses the shot he gets an H if he misses another shot that somebody else made he gets a O and so on. The person who made the first shot doesn't shoot for letters until he misses. This game is great for trick shots.

Half-Court Basketball

If you only have 4-8 people you can play regular half court basketball. The rules are the same as regular basketball but you only play on one side of the court.

Full-Court Basketball

If you have 10 people play regular full court basketball, nothing beats a 5 on 5 basketball game.

There are many more basketball games to play. These are the most popular and the ones I enjoy the most. Basketball is one of the best sports you can play. It requires a lot of skill, intelligence and sometimes luck. If you love basketball like me go to your local gym or park and play. Good luck.

I used to play a lot of basketball when I was still in the Philippines. We had around 9 basketball courts in our campus, so I couldn't resist playing. :) I've tried playing Around the World and H-O-R-S-E but I usually play Half-court/Full-Court Basketball when we have enough people to play with.

We played some of those games before and yeah I love 21. At least I can always wait for my turn to shoot the ball.

I love basketball. Makes me wish I could still play. Unfortunately age and a bad back have kept me off the court for some time.
