As we begin and get into the basketball season, it is good to have a clear vision of how you would like your team to play. It is good to write it out, read it several times, and ask yourself how to implement it at all the practices and the games. This article gives you ideas on four aspects of basketball which are factors in winning games. Will you consider these basketball strategies as you develop your vision for your team?

It all starts with defense. When your team defense stops your opponent from getting makeable shots, it gives your team a much better chance to win. Will you consider selecting one team defense and getting really good at it? Focus on the positioning and rotations and pressure on the basketball to make that defense effective. Make sure that each player in your five on the court are in the right place all the time and is making the opponents uncomfortable on offense. In this way, the opponent gets less makeable shots and is more prone to turnovers.

Defensive rebounding is an extension of your defense. Your team can play really good defense in a sequence, and it can all go for nought if the other team gets an offensive rebound. All 5 of your players need to box out an opponent and be assertive in going for the defensive rebound. It is a team effort. It is a team responsibility that all of your players must take, no matter what their size.

Once the defensive rebound is secured, your team offense begins. The most important characteristic of a team offense is constant movement. This makes it difficult for the opponent's defense to guard. The one instruction to give to your team offense is to move, to move somewhere, preferably to an open space to receive an easy pass for a makeable shot. Spacing is important. Teammates should not be on top of each other. Instead, they should be spread out so that the opponent defense has to work harder to cover everybody.

Once your team takes a shot, your team offense continues. Offensive rebounding. All 5 of your players on the court go to the boards. The more offensive rebounds you get, the more shot opportunities come, usually near the basket. When all of your players eagerly seek offensive rebounds, much good comes to your team's scoring capacity.

These basketball strategies, when connected together, ensure that your team has a purpose toward being successful. The goal is get all four aspects strong at the same time so that your team will be tought to beat.
