Best Basketball Jumping Exercise  -  Dunk the Ball!

Ever wondered how some people who are relatively short (170+ cm/ 5"8) are able to jump high and even dunk the ball? Height does matter when you play basketball, however, if you werent that lucky to be tall and want to jump higher to dunk the ball, training yourself to do just that is actually possible. Today i will show you how you can do that with the best basketball jumping exercise.

Muscles to use

In order to become better at jumping, you have to understand what muscles you use to increase your jumping. This is important so that you will be able to find the correct exercises to do so as to get maximum gain out of it. The second important point is that you will need to feel your muscles when you use it. When you are aware of which muscles you use, you will be able to feel the muscles working the next time you jump, so that you can ensure you are always using the correct muscles.

So what are the correct muscles? The main muscles to use will be your glutes, calves and core muscles.

The best basketball jumping exercise

To be honest, there is no 1 good exercise you can always do to become better. It is always a set of exercises. However, there can be the best TYPE of basketball exercise. This is plyometric training. Plyometric training includes exercises such as doing squats, jump ropes etc.

For example, squats will be able to train your glutes while doing jump ropes will be able to strengthen your calves. Both exercises also strengthens your core when you put in the perfect form as well as focus on using it.

*Tip* feel your abs squeezing every time you do a jump or squat to work on it.

What is plyometrics?

Firstly, plyometrics training is all about power and explosiveness. These type of training allows your muscles to stretch and contract, to produce extraordinary power and elastictiy in your muscles. Plyometrics training is also great training as you do not need much equipment to conduct.

How often should you do plyometrics training?

Just like any type of training routine, you cannot just only do this one type of training. You would also have to do various other types of exerciese. Research has shown that by putting in weight training (lifting weights and using weights in your plyometrics training) to your plyometrics routine, you will be able to produce optimum results.

So if you are intending on becoming able to jump higher to dunking, do plyometrics training! This is a great way for you to become better at jumping higher. Not only that, plyometrics training have other benefits such as improving your stamina. So look for a plyometrics routine and follow it! i am almost sure you will be able to jump higher after going through it.
