Denver Nuggets’ Ty Lawson Arrested on Suspicion Of DUI for Second Time

On early Tuesday morning, Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson, was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Los Angeles. This is his second DUI arrest in the last six months, with the last one coming in January!

WHAT HAPPENED?

Earlier this morning, I heard the report of California Highway Patrol Officer Jennifer Cassidy, and it was a crazy one. She reportedly said that Lawson was driving on Route 101 in Hollywood at a very high rate of speed before being pulled over at about 2 a.m PT. She continued by stating that he had shows several signs of intoxication.

Ty Lawson was booked at 3:43 a.m. and was not released for five hours. After that, he received his $5,000 bail. He will then be scheduled to show himself in court on Aug. 4 to dictate his future.

If you don’t already know, this is Lawson’s second DUI arrest, with the first coming earlier in January, on the 23th. He is scheduled to show up to court this Friday to deal with that one. However, what do you think is going to be different in dictating the result of his DUI arrest after this recent news?

Maybe just a little change of thought by the judge handling this case, for sure.

In a recent statement by Nuggets general manager Tim Connelly, he stated that “We have been notified of an incident involving Ty Lawson this morning in Los Angeles,”, and added “We will not have further comment on the matter.”

What comment can he have? There is not much to say and argue against the fact of two DUI arrests in the last year. When something happens once, there is a lot of questions posed on the issue. However, when it begins to be a reoccurring issue, its something hard to argue against.

“Mr. Lawson posted a $1,500 bond in the Denver case earlier this year and is currently on pretrial supervision,” spokeswoman Lynn Kimbrough reported to the Post. “The conditions of his bond include no alcohol consumption and monitored sobriety.”

Lawson has been a part of the Nuggets since being drafted in the first round in the 2009 NBA draft. The 5-foot-11 guard has averaged 15.2 points and career-high assists (9.6) this last season.

Two times in the same year? I don’t know how the law is going to handle this, but it is going to be something to see. What do you think? Should he be dealt with serious or minimal consequences?

Thank you! Let me know what you think :)
