Wow is the one word I can only use for this N.B.A finals. The pure energy that both teams have is reminiscent of the 1996 Chicago Bulls Era. Coming into the Playoffs it was plain to see that the Miami Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder, would be in the finals. This article is purely opinion based(seeing as the series is still going on). Hopefully after reading this article you will pay closer attention to these finals and watch as these two titanic teams, try to triumph, through the trials and tribulations and achieve the trophy. It was hard for me to pick a team to begin writing about so I will leave it up to chance(anyone have a nickel? No, well here I have a dime). It landed on heads so I will begin with Oklahoma City Thunder.
OKC Thunder.
Stamina, is the one word that fits the description of the OKC Thunder. They have an incredibly young team that has willed themselves into the finals, by outworking and out performing their opponents every night. The best example of their work ethic would be their four game winning streak against the San Antonio Spurs. They started the series down by two games, then out ran their(older) opponents every night of the last six games. James Harden,Russell Westbrook, Kendrick Perkins and Kevin Durant, seem to be an unstoppable force anytime their on the court. Kevin Durant has averaged at least twenty-eight points per game, and eight rebounds. Following right behind Kevin Durant is Russell Westbrook who averages, about twenty three points per game. That means between the two of them, the Thunder scores fifty-one points per night! If the Thunder continue to play the way the played during their first game against the Heat, they will win the series in about five to six games easily. The only downfall I see with the Thunder is they give up a lot of possessions, which lead to turnovers(these turnovers can potentially lead to points for the other team).
Miami Heat.
Explosive(when they get going) is the best word to describe this team. They have a young team as well(the only difference is they are more experienced then the Thunder). A great example of their explosiveness(and toughness) was found in their series against the Boston Celtics, in which they went tit for tat with the strategic Celtics. They eventually pushed for a game seven in which they over came the Celtics. Their big three(Lebron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwayne Wade) seem to come alive when they are pushed to their limits(also when the other team begins to weaken). The problem that the Heat will face with the Thunder is they have never played against a team that can match them speed for speed, dunk for dunk, and shot for shot. In order for the Heat to beat the Thunder, they will have to become more strategic. Lebron averages about thirty two points per game while, Bosh and Wade average twenty points between them giving them an average of fifty two points per game.
Conclusion.
These two teams are similar, very similar the only thing that can make the difference is mere will(who wants it more!). Both teams are very talented and very capable(both also have players who are hunger for a ring). Lebron wants a ring to solidify his superstar status and silence his non-believers and Kevin Durant wants a ring to establish his legacy as one of the youngest as well as best basketball players the NBA has ever seen. This will be one of the best, fast-paced, rim-rattling, shot clock beating, amazing behind the passing games ever seen(in my humble opinion of course).
