Jeremy Lin is Electrifying the Garden

Recently, the New York Knicks lost both of their superstars to injuries and hopes of having a winning season dwindled. Carmelo Anthony and Amari Stoudemire both sustained injuries that will sideline them for a few weeks. With the two play-makers on the bench, who would the Knicks depend on to score points. The answer came in the form of a 6 foot 3 inch, Asian-American point guard from Harvard named Jeremy Lin.

All 30 NBA teams passed on him in the draft in 2010 and he made a few stops on some teams, but was never there long. From the Golden State Warriors to the Houston Rockets, both these teams waived Lin for other talented prospects. Well, don't they feel foolish now! Both General Managers regret waiving him and are-embarrassed that they were unaware of the talent this kid-possess. Despite how many teams released Lin, for some reason the Knicks had faith in the young 21-year old.

It turned out their instincts were correct, because Jeremy Lin has put the struggling Knicks on a winning streak. He was able to-accomplish this without the Knicks superstars, as well. So, where did this kid come from? First of all, Lin was-fourth on the point guards depth chart for the Knicks and probably would-of never seen playing time without the big injuries they sustained. Jeremy did play a handful of games last year, but his abilities were still raw and undeveloped.

Lin's also-possess intelligence on the court, displaying great discipline and athleticism that will motivate his teammates. He distributes the ball well and demonstrates great hustle throughout the game. Mike D"Antoni might have saved his job by giving this kid a shot and his bold move is definitely paying off. I believe the only reason-why his job was never in jeopardy was because he never had a point guard to lead his offense. So, management really couldn't blame him for the Knicks misfortunes.

The main concerns with Lin in the past was his defensive skills and many teams worried that he was unable to defend well-enough to start. They also didn't believe in his perimeter shooting and with the short-season the Knicks were unable to-evaluate him more appropriately. The question now is will D'Antoni be able to correctly submit Lin's game in with his other superstars. When Carmelo and Amari return you know that they are going to want the ball more often than Lin does. So, he must-implement his point guard into the game-plan and satisfy every-ones needs.

In conclusion, I believe if D'Antoni can create the right atmosphere for all of these players to work together and play like a team. The Knicks will have a very good shot at making the playoffs and maybe even winning a series or two. I don't think they can win a NBA title just yet, but we still have not observed this team as a whole either. The Knicks could be one of those sleeper teams in the Eastern Conference and they might just surprise us all.

Street Talk

It was so crazy when Lin first came in this year, the media really knows how to set up these stories. Thanks to them they added so much more pressure on Lin to perform at a high level and we all know that even the greats have off nights and fall into slumps. I feel for this guy, but I believe he will be much better next year when he gets a little more experience.

Jeremy Lin was lighting up the floor for almost 2 weeks, but once they got the report on him they were able to stop him. But he will be back in good form soon, especially if Melo gets hurt again. The knicks are better without Melo, hopefully he leaves or something! LOL

Jeremy Lin is on fire! He has turned the knicks season around and has taken control of the offense. I see Melo even bowing down and getting called off, exactly what a team with a few "heady" superstars needed to humble them into playing hard. A bright future ahead!

I know I can' t believe how well he's playing, it's just amazing how he came out of nowhere! I really do hope Melo is able to coexhist with Lin, it will make them a better team if he passes the ball more often. He should be happy now he doesn't have to shoulder the load as much.

If Melo can't co-exist, then he is the problem. Sometimes you need to get rid of the ball hogs in order to win and in this case trading Melo and his huge contract may be worth it. Time to play some "Money Ball". :) 6-0 and not looking back...nice win against the Raps last night.

Thanks a lot William, Lin is amazing! I just wonder what the NYK's were wating for to use this kid. Considering how much we were in need of a PG, I guess it's better late than never!
