Lebron James Contemplates A Return to Cleveland

The Miami Heat were on the road in Cleveland to take on the Cavaliers last Friday night. He was-interviewed on Thursday and he was-quoted on saying that he wouldn't mind returning to Cleveland some-day. He said, "It would be great and that it would be fun to play in front of these fans again." Now, it-appears to me like Lebron was just being amiable and he answered the reporter's questions. Of course, the media is blowing it all out of proportion like usual and Lebron is getting slammed for it.

I am not stating what Lebron James did was justifiable, in fact the way he handled the "Decision" was very unprofessional. However, the media has their ways to spin his words to create a melodrama out of it. First and foremost, I believe that Cavaliers fans don't want anything to do with Lebron. Considering, the-whole burning of the jersey's incident, it seems there is still a lot of bad blood between them. Although, I do think that Cleveland fans are-thrilled that Lebron has still not won a championship.

The Miami Heat have a legitimate shot to win a title this year and if they fail it will raise a lot of eyebrow's and people will start to become skeptical. What is it going to take for the Heat to win a title? They already have established the key players and now they just need to execute. Obviously, most of the media dislikes Lebron and they water at the mouth when he slips up and produces controversial statements. Fortunately, for them he seems to make those mistakes more often than not.

Nevertheless, Lebron grew up in Akron, Ohio and I am sure he misses it back home a lot. I know that I miss my home-town and all-of-the friends I grew up with. Besides, I am positive that we are not alone on this subject. The only difference is I can go back home and not have people hollering out inappropriate comments. However, when Lebron steps foot in Cleveland there are many fans who still hold-a-grudge against him and they let him know about it. Will Cavaliers fans ever forgive Lebron for what he did?

In situations like these the only thing that helps is time. I am not stating that every-single fan will forgive him, but I believe some of them will. Especially, since Lebron has recently stated that he feels bad about how poorly he handled the situation. He regrets what he did and he can't endure the fact that so many NBA fans loath him. That's the kind of thing that eats away at him and keeps him up many nights.

In conclusion, I believe the media read a little too much into the statement that Lebron made about returning to the Cavaliers in the future. He played seven years for the Cavs and his heart remains in Cleveland, so I don't think that is such a surprise. No matter what Lebron does the fans will always oppose him because of his past actions. Nonetheless, I believe in time he will become a popular-player again.

Street Talk

I don't understand Lebron, he is soft and I don't get why he is afraid to take the GW shot. Now, he wants to go back to Cle, I doubt it. I agree with you I believe the media is to blame here and they never stop pounding the guy!

He is soft, he is nothing like the other greats and that is why he fails. Its almost like he is afaid to take the chance to succeed.

Lebron needs to make up his mind, he is just so soft and wants everyone to love him. Well he should of thought about that before he planned his trip to Miami. Sorry Lebron you can't have it both ways and they are going to hate you for what you did to them. He is WEAK minded!!!

With the money he is making he needs to step up and shut up and play the game!

Why should they be skeptical? Perhaps the idea of "buying" a championship should be left to teams like the Yankees who have refined that model! ;)

Yeah, the Yankees have made a living at buying championships, but it doesn't always work as history has told us. If Miami doesn't win this year, there will be a lot of talk about why they weren't able to get it done.

Couldn't a "money ball' style approach be taken with basketball as well. I mean there really is only one thing that matters, and that is the basket going in the other teams basket at a higher percentage than the baskets going in your end basket. On paper, I am sure there are some calculations that teams could utilize to get far more player value than they do. I think a lot of players are overpaid, Carmello Anthony being one of the biggest ones.
