Mascara is a great makeup accessory a girl can have. It is something in daily regimen that i cannot leave out when applying makeup . It accentuates, lengthens your eye lashes giving you either a subtle or dramatic look depending on how it is applied. However, every girl who has ever purchased mascara either drugstore or high end knows what smudging is. You end up having somewhat "raccoon eyes" usually after a few hours. This is not a good look especially if you have small eyes because the smudging makes it appear like you have dark circles or some severe kind of hyper pigmentation. Here i will provide with 4 tips to stop your mascara from smudging:
Remove excess: As you apply your mascara, you will notice that the wand always has too much mascara before you apply it to your lashes. If you go ahead and put this on your eyes, i guarantee you, your mascara will smudge. You want to remove the excess by scrapping it off at the mouth of the tube. Another way to remove the excess mascara with some tissue or at the back of your hand. You really don't need that much mascara. If you want the noticeable thick look, then build it with a few swipes rather than one whole step.
Invest in a waterproof mascara: This kind will hold well on your lashes and go a long way. If you are getting married, going to a wedding or any other function and you know you will cry, use waterproof mascara. You really want a waterproof mascara for such occasions because they don't smudge excessively like the regular kind. Remember always allow time for the mascara to dry.
Only apply to the top lashes: Okay, i know we see celebrities with a heavy smokey eye which we admire but this does not work for everyone. You don't have to apply mascara to your lower lashes. If you have smaller eyes, don't even attempt this because they will make your eyes appear too small. Go ahead an apply to the top lashes and if you want some definition to the lower lashes, use some eye shadow for some depth.
Don't apply mascara from root to top: This may seem tricky but its not. As you apply the mascara from the root don't go all the way to the tips. You should stop in the middle and remove the wand from the lashes that way the tips of your eye lashes don't form little black dots on your lids. If any smudging should happen in the process, then wipe off with some wipes or cotton swabs.
In conclusion, to stop your mascara from smudging, you try to remove excess mascara, invest in a water proof mascara, apply to only the top lashes and don't apply mascara from the root to the top. Look your best and be inspired!!!!
