Every spring, we come out of our shells and back to life with the increasingly beautiful weather. The winter is often a time where we tend to let ourselves go a little bit, and with that, our beauty routine. Here are a few beauty tips for spring 2013 to help get you back into the swing of things!
Healthful Hair
Winter definitely takes its toll on our hair. Shiny, healthy hair never goes out of style! Try an at-home hair treatment to save yourself the salon bill. Try applying some olive oil to your locks, wrapping with some plastic wrap, and leaving on for 30 minutes. Wash and rinse well, and observe your revived hair!
For hairstyles, this season, a loose side braid is really in. This easy style can make any outfit look put-together. For a fun twist, try some different styles of braids, like fishtail. Or, you can always make the most of the carefree vibe that comes from leaving your hair down. Try applying some of your favourite hair product while wet and braiding your hair in one big braid. When dry, you'll have some great shiny, wavy locks. Make sure to shake your hair out well for a beautiful tousled look.
Fresh-faced
As usual, the spring look is always great with a fresh, even complexion. For this, make sure you've moisturized fully, and apply your favourite foundation and powder lightly. BB creams have blown up recently, so I definitely recommend these if you haven't tried them yet--they help achieve a great, brightened, and even complexion. You can also always use a highlighter on your T-zone as well as along the cheekbone for a gorgeous glow. With the optional addition of some lighter coloured blush or bronzer, and you're ready to go! If you're a beginner, check out the different types of foundation, and how to choose the right one for you.
Easy Eyes
Spring is all in bloom, why not jump for some colour? Try a classic soft smokey eye with a pop of colour for this season. Apply a very light shade of colour on the inside of your lid to help open up your eyes. On the lid, apply your colour of choice and blend well--here you can choose to make it as soft or bold as you want. In the outer corner, try applying a slightly darker shade of the same colour, and spread up into the crease. Again, blend well. You can then apply your favourite eyeliner inside your upper and lower lash lines, or you can use your eyeshadow just along the lower lash line to make your eyes really pop (or both)! For a more daring look, experiment with pairing a few complimentary colours on the lid and the outer corner/crease. Finish with your favourite mascara.
Tip: To make your eyes really stand out, try either matching or contrasting your eyeshadow to the most prominent colour of your outfit (ie. If you're wearing yellow, try a purple eye).
Lustrous Lips
Often, the 'rule' is a light lip with a bold eye. Aren't rules just made to be broken? (Okay, maybe only sometimes...) Anyway, the bright red lip is a classic, and always comes back in when we get the colour back in our faces (unless you live somewhere warm year-round, in which case, I envy you!). If this is a little too daring for you, you can opt for a light pink, mauve, or nude lip for the spring season to complete your fresh, awakened look.
A beautiful, reawakened look for Spring 2013 is within your reach. Remember to always eat healthy, drink tons of water, and get proper exercise to look and feel your best inside and out. I really hope these beauty tips gave you some ideas and helped you out for the season. You are beautiful, flaunt it!
