Are you craving that healthy, fresh glow that you see other women have? Well here's a way to get it for yourself, without breaking the bank! This is a recipe for a homemade face scrub that will slough off those dead skin cells and leave your face looking radiant.
You'll need:
- A tablespoon
- A bowl
- Olive oil (if you are prone to breakouts, I would recommend sweet almond oil)
- Brown Sugar
- Facial cleanser
- Hair Clip (if you have long hair)
- Clip your hair back.
- Wash your face with warm to hot (not too hot!) water and dry your face well. We want to be working with a clean, dry surface. The warm water helps to open up your pores.
- Measure 2 tablespoons of brown sugar into your bowl.
- Measure about half a tablespoon of olive oil and mix it with the sugar. We don't want it too be too runny, but if it isnt a thick paste, add a little bit more olive oil.
- Apply the mixture to your face. Scrub gently in small circles to get rid of all the dead skin cells. You definitely don't want to be too rough, as you can irritate your skin.
- When you're finished scrubbing, rinse off the mix well. Once rinsed, splash your face with cold water to close your pores and lock in the moisture.
- Dry your face, and voila! A new, glowing you!
The reason I recommend olive oil is because of its amazing moisturizing properties. Sweet almond oil is another fabulous oil which I use myself, because olive oil is too heavy for my skin. Sweet almond oil won't clog your pores and moisturizes beautifully. If you put it on at night, in the morning your face will be significantly moisturized and glowing, and ready for your makeup. It's also awesome to use on your lips, as well as your whole body. Another great plus is that if you shop around, you can usually get a large bottle of sweet almond oil for under $15. This really is a great value, because as with all oils: a little goes a long way! Now, if you want to skip the oil entirely, you can always use warm water with your mixture. This still works just as well, you'll just have to make sure to moisturize afterwards.
Brown sugar is great for this because it is normally a larger grain of sugar and does a better job of exfoliating. However, you still can use white sugar for this if you choose; I would still recommend buying a larger grain if possible. This scrub is also a treat as a body scrub! You can use it once a week to keep skin all over your body healthy, smooth, and looking great (and in the summer, for those smooth, sexy legs).
It's important to always keep our skin in tip-top shape, especially if you're a makeup lover like me! Just like artists, you always have to keep your canvas in good condition to make your art the best it can be. With a smooth, clean surface, your makeup possibilities are endless!
I hope you enjoyed this DIY face scrub recipe. Keep on glowing, friends.
