I recently got the new Sigma P88 brush and have been using it just about daily, so I thought I would share my thoughts in this review! I will start off by saying it is definitely a unique shape, and I think it's Sigma's most unique brush yet, and honestly that is precisely what got my greedy little fingers in trouble in the first place! lol! Ahh always a sucker for cute packaging...
Anyhow, this new precision flat angled brush is, well, just exactly that: yes it is flat (and round, and I measured about the diameter of the tip of my ring finger... so not tiny by any standards, but not too big either), it's very angled, and yes it does a very precise job of applying my makeup. So I'd say they named it well.
What is is good for? Under eye concealer and of course applying your face concealer (hiding those blemishes, hyper-pigmentation, dark spots, you name it...) and if you wanted to get really creative you could probably come up with something else you'd use it for too. Oh I better add that it's also great for reaching corners like around the nose when applying concealer or foundation.
Now, Sigma's P88 brush was introduced with the new F88 - their much larger by comparison flat angled kabuki which I did hold off from purchasing. I do own 4 of the synthetic kabuki brushes and I'll tell ya what they do NOT have in common with my new P88 brush is uber flexibility and softness. I was actually surprised at how NOT dense this little brush was! So if you're looking for ultra density then the P88 is not for you. I was actually surprised by this, so I bet I'm not the only one.
If you're not familiar with Sigma's synthetic line, this is the product line made with synthetic bristles. And a quick f.y.i. - synthetic is great for longevity and more "wear and tear" so-to-speak. Don't forget that you must be vigilant in washing your makeup brushes often to keep the transfer of bacteria at bay. The point of using something such as the new Sigma P88 brush is to conceal, not encourage unwanted spots!
I do buy more wallet friendly brands all the time but there's a reason Sigma is the leader in professional makeup brushes. I hope that this new Sigma P88 brush review has given you a good briefing on what to expect if you are considering their newest item.
