I’d like to offer you a quick NYC Color Wheel review because I recently bought the NewYorkColor Color Wheel mosaic face powder in Translucent Highlighter Glow and I’m hooked. I have to admit that I was initially drawn to it for it’s price, around $4.99 (cheap! cheap!) and how pretty it looked in its packaging. So I thought even if I don’t really love it and use it a ton, well at least I didn’t spend much...right?
Well the first time I used it, I totally fell in love!
Why a Wheel?
The main idea behind the NYC color wheel is that by combining a multi-colored palette of 4 face powder shades, the skin will react to the different hues and balance out any imperfections and blend really nicely on the face. Your skins’ undertones will be enhanced, and for example with the Translucent Highlighter Glow that I bought for myself, the neutral shades are so softening yet at the same time give off a really nice glow to the skin.
How does the NYC Color Wheel feel when applied to the face? Well the powder is really sheer and super light feeling. Definitely not heavy at all. When you apply with your brush I find that I have to give it a couple of applications all over, but I’m not worried because it just goes on so lightly, smoothly, and the coverage, even being “translucent” is pretty impressive for my uneven skin tone.
4 different shades for 4 different looks:
If you’ve already looked for a NYC Color Wheel review of the other shades you’ll know that there are 4 all together:
- Translucent Highlighter Glow
- Pink Cheek Glow
- All Over Bronze Glow
- Rose Glow
I’d say that of the 4 available I’m drawn to 2: Translucent Highlighter Glow and Rose Glow, although to date I only own the one. I’ve read other NYC Color Wheel reviews and apparently the Pink Cheek is a bit “too pink”, but then again I think it definitely depends on what your natural coloring is to begin with. I personally like to use my wheel when I want to go for a soft natural look.
Nothing to lose:
Oh, and another great thing about this product is that its ingredients actually help the skin! This is super important, especially since a lot of us who talk about makeup products are hesitant to put too much on our face in fear of a bad reaction, an allergy, or the worst of them all, a breakout!!
But luckily, all of the NYC Color Wheel powders’ ingredients are made with kaolin which help to minimize the look of pores and fine lines, the powder is made from natural minerals, they are oil-free and dermatologist tested.
