Say Goodbye to Acne Problems – Honey Mask for Acne

Acne has been always a problem especially for women. Dermatologists may prescribe a new facial skin care regimen for suffering patients but this can cause a lot of money and not everyone with acne can afford such expensive treatments. Luckily, one of the solutions can be found at home! Why not try making a honey mask for acne?

Honey is said to be a great solution for acne problems, scars, spots and so much more because of its natural antibacterial properties. This is preferable for persons who want to drive away from the use of medical remedies which are also chemical and may not be suitable for delicate skin. These chemical lotions, creams or pills also leave the skin dry. The use of honey as a treatment for acne is very harmless and does not interfere to other medications being taken.

Acne is caused by blockage of the sebaceous glands. These glands produce and secrete sebum which is responsible in moisturizing the skin. When these glands are capped, the sebum is trapped and unable to escape through the pores. When this happens, the sebaceous glands tend to overproduce sebum which becomes deposited under the pores of the skin. This gives the skin a swollen and reddish appearance. The flow of sebum also helps clean the openings of sebaceous glands. If there openings are blocked, they are not cleaned and becomes prone to infection by bacteria. This makes the acne even uglier.

How does honey mask for acne help with the problem? Honey’s antibacterial properties help in cleaning up the pores and preventing growth of bacteria. Honey mask for acne also leaves the skin soft, moisturized and glowing. It also reduces inflammation and the redness of the skin and decreases the number of breakouts.

There a variety of homemade recipes to make a honey mask for acne. Honey can be used on its own as a mask. Just leave it on the face for about 20 minutes and then rinse with water. The stickiness of honey helps in pulling away dirt and dead skin cells from the skin. Honey also has antioxidants that make the skin appear younger and glowing.

There is one famous homemade recipe for a honey mask for acne. It is called the apple honey mask and involves the following steps:

1. Use a medium apple and organic honey

2. Remove the seeds and place it on a food processor. Reduce the apple into a fine pulp.

3. Add the appropriate amount of honey (around four to five tablespoons depending on the amount of pulp to be used)

4. Apply the honey mask for acne on the entire face. Leave it for 10-15 minutes.

5. When the mask is already a little dry, wash it off using lukewarm water.

6. Splash a bit of cold water after rinsing to close up the pores.

This apple honey mask for acne is very refreshing. This homemade recipe for a honey mask for acne can also be used as a facial scrub.
