How To Shave Your Head

If you've been searching for information on how to shave your head, then you have come to the right place. Shaving your head is actually pretty easy to do. It's one of those things that you just have to start doing, and then learn from experience. The biggest challenge you will have is developing the muscle memory, but even that's not too big of a deal.  The main thing that shaving you head comes down to is just practice, practice and more practice.

To get started you will need to cut most of your hair off with a set of clippers. You can do this yourself, have a friend do it, or go to a barber shop and pay them to do it. You will want to take as much hair off as possible. The more hair you take off with the clippers and the shorter it is, the easier it will be for you to shave it later on with a razor.

The reason being that when you shave your head with a razor, the razor tends to get clogged with hair. Once it gets clogged with hair you have to rinse it out. The longer your hair is the quicker the razor gets clogged. That is why you want it as short as possible when you begin.

The second step is to shave your head with a razor. Before doing this you might want to take a hot shower. This tends to soften the hair and make it easier to cut, but is not required. Alternatively, can run your head underneath the faucet to wet your hair.  After your hair is wet any remove excess water so it's not running down your face and apply shaving cream.

At this point you are ready to start shaving your head. There is no way right or wrong way to shave your head, it's just whatever comes natural to you.  What I do is I start with my dominant hand which is my right hand. I then shave the top, right side of my head. I start at my forehead, and go back to the crown of my head. I then move my razor to the right by one razor width, and shave that section. I do this until I reach the side of my head.

Once I reach the side of my head I change the position of the razor. Instead of starting at my face and going towards the back of my head, I start at the top of the unshaven area and go down towards my ear. I then shift the razor over until I have shaved the right side of my head around the ear.

I then repeat the exact same steps on the left side of my head. I switch hands and use my left hand. When you are first learning how to shave your head this can be kind of awkward, but after you do it for a while it will become second nature.

After I have shaved the left, right, and top of my head I will focus on the back of my head and neck. I will usually go back to the right side. I start at crown of my head where I ended and go down  until I reach the middle of my neck. I shift the razor over and continue doing this until I have shaved the entire back right side of my head. I then switch hands and repeat on the left hand side. After this I am done.

I would suggest buying a small mirror, so you can look at the back of your head. This helps you see if you have missed any spots. If you want a closer shave, do a second pass in the opposite direction of the hair growth. Depending on your skin type this can irritate your skin and cause razor burn.

This is how to shave your head in a nutshell. As you gain more experience, you will develop you own technique and find what works best for you. Feel free to experiment!
