Issues as we age...
As we age our skin slowly undergoes changes and as our metabolism slows down we can get other issues, poor circulation, not enough sleep, dry brittle nails, sagging and dehydrated skin.
Notice of changes
These changes are subtle and you may only realize it has happened when someone asks you "what's wrong? Is every thing okay with you?? And they look at you with great puzzlement on their faces. I must admit my young son asked me this very question a few years back, I had taken on a bad business partner at the time and the worry had obviously taken its toll and showed in my face. Back then I was even afraid to look at myself in the mirror, so I got rid of my business partner sorted my life out and I?m glad say my skin is now back to normal.
Poor Elasticity
Mature or aging skin has poor elasticity due to the lack of moisture, fine lines and wrinkles appear due to increased dryness. The complexion looks withered and takes on an "old ivory" shade as the melanin production diminishes.
Young adult could be affected too
Aging skin not only happens to mature people but can affect young people as well. I have seen and treated many young adults who have mature skin due to lack of care in their skin regime.
Aging skin results after a passage of time from many of the following:
- Lack of proper skin care while young.
- Some health problems and / or hormonal imbalances.
- Smoking
- Over exposure to the sun, this can destroy the cellular ability to reproduce.
- Stress and lifestyle.
- Lack of sleep
- Not drinking enough fluids
- Poor nutrition
Managing aging skin
Go back to basics. Follow a skin care regimen that includes cleansing, toning, exfoliating and removing dead skin also hydrate your skin morning and night.
Here are few suggestions to help treat the signs of aging skin:
The emphasis is on re-hydration of the skin. Moisture in the skin and the intracellular channels is the magic key for youthful looking skin.
The value of sun protection
I recommend you use sun protection and moisturizer when venturing outside. Your skin needs stimulating and hydration, so having revitalizing active ingredients in your night cream products is very important.
Your skin need hydration
Using a facial mask on a weekly basis will also add to the re-hydration process. Try using a facial mask with ampoules or serum if they also have stimulating and revitalizing active ingredients as well that is better and this has worked best for me when treating my clients.
Enjoy spa treatment
Take time to pamper yourself, go for a facial treatment at the spa at least once a month, if you haven't done this yet then I think now is the time to do it.
What a good facial treatment does for your skin?
Facial treatment helps maintain the healthy appearance of the facial skin. It deep cleanses your skin by unclogging the pores, hydrating, nourishing and protecting your skin. Your skin will display vitality, clarity, tone and nice texture as well as giving good circulation to the facial area making your skin look softer, feel more pliable to the touch and most importantly leaving your skin looking relaxed and refreshed.
A final note
When you apply a moisturizing cream do make sure you massage it on to your face in small circular motions, don't just slapping it on, the product will not do the work by itself. Massaging the cream gently in to your face will nourish the skin and all of its structure, this will also help the blood to circulate better. Five to ten minutes a day is all it takes to have lovely healthy youthful looking skin. Follow the very simple advice I have given you here and you can forget about botox or plastic surgery. I have found that massaging does the trick almost every time all you need is consistency.
Hey Bill, it is not to late to incorporate them in your daily skin care regimen!
