Summer fruits do much more than satisfying our taste buds. Eat them raw, make smoothes, juice them up or use them externally, the result is always wonderful.

These fruits can do wonders for your skin and give a tough fight to the harsh sun’s rays. Brightly-colored fruits loaded with high levels of antioxidants and nutrients can protect the skin from the sun’s damage, tone the skin up and improve complexion. Besides consuming them in different forms, these can be applied externally for a supple and fresh skin.

Fresh and natural are the key words for a glowing skin recipe. Believe me, try it and see for yourself that even in the worst summer heat, it works. Summer fruit recipes are the best and most inexpensive way to take care of the skin when the mercury is showing an upward trend.

STRAWBERRY FOR FIRM AND YOUTHFUL SKIN

If you are aspiring for a flawless skin in this summer heat, the strawberry is the best choice. We all know the health benefit of a strawberry but the fact that strawberries enhance your looks is not known to many. Strawberries improve complexion. Besides other nutrients and antioxidants, strawberries supply a whopping amount of vitamin C. This is necessary for the production of collagen as it helps in keeping the skin firm, and wrinkle-free. It also decreases the appearance of sun spots. Go ahead and use it for a younger-looking skin.

Strawberry for a well-toned, smooth skin:

Blend together 15-20 fresh strawberries with ½ cup of yogurt and one teaspoonful of lemon juice. Refrigerate for half an hour. Apply the chilled mixture to your face and neck. Wash it off after 30 minutes. If you are planning to go out immediately after this, don’t forget to apply sunscreen.

Mash strawberries and apply strawberry gruel to your face and neck for 10-15 minutes. A strawberry face pack works better on a wet face. Before putting on the pack, wet the face. Leave it on two-three times a week for soft, smooth and well-toned skin.

Individuals with dry and dehydrated skin should wipe olive oil or any vegetable oil before applying a strawberry pack

Blend well one ripe mango (cut into pieces) and ¼ cup of yogurt to make a smooth paste. Apply this pack to a clean face. Rinse after 15 minutes and admire the charming face with a radiating complexion.

Face scrub: Individuals suffering from acne can benefit from this scrub. Blend well one ripe mango, ½ a cup of yogurt and two teaspoons of honey. Add oats to the mixture and apply to the face and neck. Leave it for 15-20 minutes and gently scrub off before rinsing. You will be most happy to see the glowing skin.

RASPBERRY FOR YOUNGER-LOOKING SKIN

But have you ever thought of using raspberries to enhance your skin tones? Try using raspberries as a beauty aid. Your skin will love them. Raspberries will ensure a younger-looking, very soft, oil-free, well-toned and firm skin.

Raspberry face mask:

You need ½ a cup of fresh raspberries, two tablespoonfuls of honey and ½ a cup of oats. Put all the ingredients in a blender or food processor and make a smooth paste. Wash your face and apply the mask all over the face and neck and let it stay for 15 minutes. Wash with lukewarm water and wipe softly. This mask has all the ingredients which are beneficial to your skin. The raspberries supply loads of vitamin C necessary for maintaining healthy, clear, glowing and wrinkle-free skin. Honey moisturizes the skin and fights acne while oats exfoliate the skin and absorb unwanted oil and impurities from the skin.

BLUEBERRIES: DEFY AGE AND REPAIR SUN-DAMAGED SKIN

Blueberries, one of the richest sources of antioxidants, are not only scrumptious in taste but also great for the skin. The antioxidants in the fruit fight the free radicals that can wreak havoc on skin cells in summer heat. The antioxidants and photochemical in blueberries offer protection against the sun’s damage and help in repairing the damaged cells giving the skin a younger look. The blueberries supply us all the vitamins essential for our skin.

Blueberry face masks:

You will require 8-10 fresh blueberries, one teaspoonful of lemon juice, and one tablespoon of yogurt, soaked and ground almonds. Mix all these ingredients in a blender. Apply to a clean face and neck. Rinse with water after 15-20 minutes. This mask will guarantee you a well-toned, younger-looking skin and will keep fine lines and wrinkles at bay.

Take fresh blueberries, one teaspoonful of lemon juice and two tablespoonfuls of oats and put them in a blender to make a creamy smooth paste. Apply to a clean face. Rinse the face after 10 minutes. Apply this mask twice a week – and defy age.

For repairing the sun-damaged skin, take a few fresh blueberries and two tablespoonfuls of yogurt. Put them in a blender and mix well. Spread the mask over the face and rinse with warm water after 15 minutes. The antioxidants and antihistamine in blueberries help in repairing the sun-damaged skin.

CUCUMBER FOR COOL AND REFRESHED SKIN

Stay cool and refreshed with cucumber this summer. Apply a cucumber mask and feel the soothing and refreshing effect in no time. Cucumber is a great tonic for the skin. It nourishes, softens and hydrates the skin.

Just grate cucumber and blend well with yogurt in a blender. Apply the mixture to the face and let it stay for 15 minutes. Wash at with cold water.

Take equal amounts of cucumber juice, glycerin and rose water. Make a mixture and keep in a bottle in the refrigerator. Try this on your face, hands and neck: it’s really cool and soothing. It will give you instant relief from the summer heat.

You need a few pieces of cucumber, one-two tablespoonfuls orange juice, one strawberry, honey and one tablespoonful of fresh cream (use yogurt if you are prone to acne and pimples). Put them in a blender and combine well. Apply the mixture to the face and neck. Wash it off with cold water after 15 minutes and stand in front of the mirror to admire a refreshed, well-moisturized face.
