Rose oil is one of the few natural skin care products that benefits everyone. Whether you struggle with acne or wrinkles, this oil will help heal and bring your skin back to normal.
The rose is considered the most beautiful flower; likewise, rose oil is one of the most expensive ingredients to add to cosmetics and for good reason. It takes about 60,000 roses to make an ounce of rose oil, so you can see why this is a very costly product. Luckily, you only need a little to experience its benefits.
Rose oil has a reputation for calming inflamed skin. It mixes well with other ingredients so it’s often used in natural skin care products. Also, you can’t underestimate the power of its smell. Rubbing something that smells wonderful on your skin is always enjoyable.
Rose Essential Oil
If you’d like to use rose oil to whip up your own product at home, make sure to use 100 percent pure essential oil. Imposters won’t give you the results you’re looking for. Also, never put essential oil on directly on your skin – add it to a carrier oil like jojoba or almond.
From a chemical perspective, rose oil is very complex, having over 300 components. Both oils share the same properties which include:
- Antibacterial
- Anti-infectious
- Antiseptic
- Antispasmodic
- Astringent
- Tonic
Rose Otto - Steam is used to extract the oil from petals of the Bulgarian rose.
Rose Absolute - Created with petals from the Bulgarian rose and distilled using ‘enfleurage’ or solvent extraction.
Although Rose Otto and Rose Absolute have many similarities, there are some differences. Many experts consider Rose Otto the superior oil; however, Rose Absolute has a stronger scent – the chemical extraction process puts more scent molecules into the oil in contrast to the steam-distilled Otto.
Absolute is also said to have stronger aphrodisiac, sedative, and bacterial benefits whereas Otto has a higher energy frequency -- vibrating at around 320 Hz. Otto also has distinct female qualities and is used to regulate the menstrual cycle.
From a natural skin care perspective, the antiseptic, astringent, and antibacterial qualities of rose oil make it perfect for irritated skin. No matter if you’re using it in a moisturizer, toner, or facial mask the oil’s properties will help calm your skin and bring it back to normal.
The beauty of rose oil is that it balances your skin no matter what the problem is, so a person with acne or dry skin could use the same product with good results. If you’re a product junkie looking to simplify your beauty regimen, rose oil may be just the thing for you.
