Safe Makeup Removal Products: Taking Your Best Face Back Off
Join 1000's of Authors at StreetArticles Today!

We start each day with our faces devoid of all makeup, a fresh, bright canvas on which we paint our personalities and face the world. For many of us, hours and hours later we stagger back in our doors, bedraggled, beat down and ready to collapse in our beds praying for long hours to recuperate before that alarm clock jars us out of our reverie and we start it all over again.

The problem with that scenario? No one mentioned makeup removal at all. Sleeping in your makeup one time is not a crime against nature, but if it is a common practice, it can be. Your face needs the time to kick all of the nasty dead skin and other debris out of its pores and if makeup is blocking its way, how can it get that job done? The more time that the pores spend being blocked; the more likely you are to develop acne.

Removing your makeup should be integrated into your daily skin care routine, an important step that should never, ever be skipped. It does not have to be a lengthy process and with the right products should be just as simple as anything else that you would do for your skin. Do not fret if you have applied waterproof mascara, there are products that can safely and quickly remove that as well. Some of the best products:

1. Makeup remover cloths. These come in a handy pop-up dispenser, are easy to use and work very well. If you are lucky enough to live near one, the various “dollar” discount stores carry a very nice store brand of these that are inexpensive but still effective.

2. Baby wipes. Yes, the pre-moistened baby wipes are great for a million things other than baby butts, and makeup removal is high on the list. Gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin, these are generally bigger than the makeup remover cloths.

3. All natural, but kind of strange sounding: This one will save time as well because it is a three in one tip. Add one teaspoon lemon juice to ¼ cup of plain yogurt and mix well. Apply to face to cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize all at one time. Rinse thoroughly with tepid water.

If all else fails, or nothing is available to you, use plain soap and water, but do not skip removing your makeup. No excuses
