There's no getting away from the fact that tans are considered a symbol of beauty and health. Tanning salons are still thriving with customers flocking to them daily in order to get or maintain their sun tan and sun tanning beds are a popular way to get that bronzed look from home. The problem is that people often focus on getting as tanned as possible and forget about safe tanning practices
It's a known fact that before having a tanned look was considered beautiful, women always shielded their skin from the sun and skin cancer was pretty rare back then. It is the concentrations of UVB and UVA rays that are reported to cause the problems, but there are ways to protect your skin while getting that glowing tan at the same time
Tanning bed safety is vitally important, as is choosing the right sun tanning bed. Protecting the skin mainly means moisturizing with a protective creme. You can prevent premature aging and that leathery look that we'e all seen on people who are sun worshipers over a period of years and have never bothered about skin protection
The main focus of safety when using sun tanning beds is the skin and keeping it healthy, but you also need to make sure you protect your eyes. Many tanning addicts fail to do this and do not realise that the eyes are sensitive to sunlight and you can send up with retina damage. This can be totally avoided by the use of googles or eye patches that are designed specifically for use with sun tanning beds and don't leave you looking like a panda!
To practice safe tanning you should gradually build up the amount of time spent on sun tanning beds. Start off with sessions of no more than two minutes and build up to five minutes or so. It can be tempting to short cut this process in order to get the tan you want faster, but remember, every time you burn your skin, you increase your risk of getting skin cancer. This is of course true of natural sunlight as well!
There is no need to use your sun tanning beds every day either. Once you have the tan you want, once a week will maintain that. While you are building up your tan, each session should be two days apart at least. You may also find that you do not need to tan your face as often as other parts of your body.
Practicing sun tanning bed safety is very important. We all know how attractive a tan can be, so use your bed safely and keep enjoying that sexy bronzed look without risking your health
