Since there are hundreds of uses for organic coconut oil, I'm going to go over just three simple ways it can be used everyday. You will be able to replace three of your everyday beauty products with this miracle oil and it's very easy to use.
Number One: Lip Moisturizer
You can store some of the oil in those small containers you can get at any beauty store and use it in place of chap stick. I have done this and it works really great, especially if your lips are very chapped and dry. It will help to moisturize, heal, and soften the lips and is perfect for everyday use. I keep a small container in my purse for easy access and I never have to buy chap stick again.
Number Two: Deodorant
This works surprisingly well. The first time I tried using organic coconut oil as a deodorant, I didn't know what to expect. It really kept me fresh all day long with no body odor, even in the summer months. You can use it all by itself or mixed with baking soda. I found this recipe below that works really great with very few ingredients.
What you will need:
- 1/3 cup of organic coconut oil
- 1/4 cup of baking soda
- 4 tablespoons of cornstarch (optional)
- Essential oils (optional)
Recipe: Mix the baking soda and cornstarch (if desired) in a bowl. Add the coconut oil and blend together. Add more or less for your desired consistency. You can also add a few drops of your favorite essential oil, but you don't have to. Then, scoop it up and store in a small glass jar or in a small container and apply simply by rubbing a small amount together in your hands and rub into your underarms. It's all natural and works great.
Number Three: Dental Toothpaste
Organic coconut oil is really good for dental health. There's so many ways it can be used, not just in a homemade toothpaste. For example, I have gotten into the habit of oil pulling with coconut oil every morning when I wake up. Most people have never heard of this and it's a really easy concept of swishing the oil around inside the mouth and spitting it out after 20 minutes. Sounds weird, but it's actually really good for dental health.
Anyway, you can make your very own homemade toothpaste. It's really easy and you don't have to worry about any harmful ingredients because it's 100% natural. Here's the recipe:
What you will need:
- 5 tablespoons of organic coconut oil
- 5 tablespoons of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon of stevia*
- Essential oils (if desired, like peppermint) - 20 drops
*Stevia is commonly known as sweet leaf or sweet herb. It has anti-bacterial properties making it good for cavities and tooth decay and will sweeten the flavor of your homemade toothpaste.
Recipe: Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and pour into a small glass jar or container and it's ready to use as a toothpaste. It's so easy to replace your everyday products with this amazing stuff and there's so many health benefits of coconut oil.
Thank you for sharing these wonderful healthy benefits of coconut oil! Just love the stuff!! :)
Useful! Seems like coconut oil is very versatile. Wonder why it works as an underarm deodorant?
Hi. You want to get organic coconut oil that's all natural, unrefined, virgin or extra virgin. You can find it online or in an organic food store. I use Nutiva, but Nature's Way EfaGold is also a good brand. For dental care it can be used as above in a homemade toothpaste or you can refer to my article listed below "Oil Pulling With Coconut Oil".
My wife knows all about the "slushing" with natural oils to cure gingivitis and for tooth health. However, we have a question about the stevia in the toothpaste recipe. Is this the herb as in the plant material or the oil? I know there are little packets of stevia sweetener that my wife uses in her coffee and tea. Very informative and love your writing style. Keep it up, my coocoo for coconut friend.
I needed this because i'm trying to go all natural. thanks for this information
Just when I thought there could be no more interesting uses for this oil and I learn about deodorant. Now that's a surprise. So interesting. thanks for these neat tips.
