The blackhole exploit kit is if I may say, the latest blog malware taking down tens of thousands of websites, (to be specific 41177) according to AVG. Now the main reason I took time to write up this piece of information that that I pray will help. is because I just ran into it and it was pretty time consuming for me to find a quick. By the time you finish reading this, you should get a pretty good idea of how you can get rid of the blackhole exploit kit once and for all. It took me quite a number of days to figure it out so I hope it really helps.
Basically, the black hole exploit kit is a code distorts your site to stop working. To be more specific, anytime someone desires to log onto the infected site, it would simply bring up a blank page or some sort of error. The major and long term effects of this apart from the obvious include:
- Degrading your rankings
- Gets you noticed by anti-malwares (bad)
- Gets a bug to the user's personal computer
- Reduces your trust generally
The effects don't end there by the way. That's just the beginning. Once the very first bug is up, it has a tendency of spreading allover your blog and (get this) your hosting account. Once it's onto your hosting account, it has the capability to easily crawl to other domains and perform the same dirty trick. Thereafter, if your JavaScript is activated, this bug can get itself onto your own computer to make your experience more difficult as such.
I got all this info from support forums along with some codes I was supposed to be looking out for that I never ever stumbled upon. So here's how I went by the blackhole exploit kit:
Step 1: Get something to scan my whole blog scripts
Since I use Wordpress, it wasn't that difficult to install a plugin with searching something like 'antivirus' or so. After all, I still had access to my admin dashboard, (thank goodness!) If you don't use Wordpress, you can easily find some sort of site which can provide the same services. They are endless, literally.
Step 2: Editing out the bugs found
Now here was the tricky part. I may not be a pro as such when it comes to editing codes, but this would be tricky to anyone I guess.
The two links provided in the error when the site was loaded were totally different to where the bugs actually were. It really took me sometime to figure this out, now you have the plus on it. The bugs are commonly on the 'header' section. That should be your first place to look after ignoring the site error.
Step 3: Edit it and fix your site
Once you edit that small bug, your problem should be solved. Your site should not have a problem loading. Nevertheless, if you have a problem getting all the above right, I recommend getting a HTML/bug specialist to check the black hole exloit kit for you. But first, you should makes sure you have it. AVG has very comprehensive details about the black hole exploit kit.
The blackhole exploit kit has really made blogging difficult for many people over such a short period of time. Especially those who use the internet for making money online. I do hope you manage to get this malware off your site. To keep the blackhole exploit fully off, I recommend running an AVG scan on a schedule.
Hope it helps :)
one more thing; please socialize this info in all ways you can as a favor :)
