I’m sure most of you have heard the expression, “Just do it”? Have you ever considered that you need to do that with your own blog? Sometimes we get so caught up in using just the right words in just the right way that, before you know it, you've written a dissertation that properly belongs in a university classroom.
Why not just blog it as you think it? Write it down before you forget it.
Some of us like to use an outline, a plan if you will, for each of our posts or our articles. Try and throw that away and just start typing or writing, whichever you’re most comfortable with . Oh sure, we always hear from writers that your “story” needs to have a beginning, middle, and end. Or an introduction, the body, and a conclusion.
Balderdash I say…well, sometimes anyways. Sometimes it is a better use of your time to write it as you see it, or think it. Something very interesting begins to happen…who you are starts to come out. By that I mean:
• Your personality
• Your character
• Your humor
• Even your philosophy on life
Believe it or not, people begin to see the real you when you just write from the heart. They see a person and, oftentimes, will connect more with that person because of this. Let them see your “humanness”.
We all get the glitzy flyers in the mail and watch the well thought our commercials on TV. But just think about it, sometimes the ads that truly resonate with us are those ads that at least give the perception of a “real person” and the things, good and bad, that they are going through or have gone through.
There are many reality shows on TV right now for a reason. There are many biographies that are top sellers in the bookstores for a reason. These are real people going through real life and situations and it is very easy to get caught up in what they are going through.
We relate…because that may very well be us!
So when you blog, sometimes just let you come through. There are many websites and bloggers that are out there trying to sell all of us the latest gizmo or gadget or whatever. They spend a lot of time and money, like the TV and flyer ads, on convincing us to buy their product because it’s the one thing we cannot be without.
How about this…the one thing we truly cannot be without is our genuineness. Let people see that in your next blog. You’ll likely get more responses in the comment section.
