Leather is practically indestructible if treated properly. Proper storage, cleaning, and
conditioning will keep your jacket in great condition. The information presented here

You will need:
A well made wooden hanger
Protection solution for leather and suede
A good quality cleaner and conditioner
If you have a leather jacket that you love and want to last a long time,
then you have to take care of it a bit. Listed here are
some important steps you can take to preserve your leather and suede jackets.
STEP 1
When you buy the jacket, find out what type of leather it is.The type of animal from which it’s made is not important,
but it is important to know if it’s pigmented leather, semi-aniline or aniline. This will affect the way you will need
to care for it. More importantly, how much attention it needs to be given from the beginning.
STEP 2
Leather jackets are quite robust and resistant to wear. The pigmented and semi-aniline are even more,
but the aniline are the softest, most natural and most expensive.
STEP 3
Before wearing a leather jacket, treat it with a protective chemical for leather suede or leather furniture.
This is usually a spray and will help prevent water penetration, staining or soot.
STEP 4
When not wearing your coat, place it on a hanger as often as possible. We know from leather shoes that it will stretch
so try to avoid hanging it on a hook. This causes to much stress on a small area.
STEP 5
If the jacket gets wet,do not worry, try not to allow it to become saturated. When wet, hang on a hanger and let it
dry at room temperature away from direct sources of heat such as radiators, heaters, or stoves.
STEP 6
If there are spots in it from the rain, you should be able to remove them with a dry cloth. If the jacket is semi-aniline
or pigmented, you can use a damp cloth or leather conditioner.
STEP 7
If the jacket is semi-aniline or pigmented, the most important thing you can do is to feed it. For this you need a
quality leather cleaner and conditioner.
Useful:
If the lining in the leather jacket becomes less fresh try a vacuum, it works!
If you use any solution to clean your jacket, test it first on a small area, hidden in the jacket, in this way you can
make sure if the product has side effects without damaging the jacket.
