There are numerous websites on the internet dedicated to blogging about the author’s family. Whether it’s to tell funny stories, reminisce about our childhood, or even talk frankly about married life, you will find a specific topic that you would be interested in. So what would my first family blog look like?
Quite frankly, it would be about the sanctity and security of home.
I have always been a firm believer that “home is where the heart is” and that it should be a safe place to come back to…regardless of what the world may throw at you. There must be safety, warmth, and the chance to unwind and relax at home.
My blog would include the safety in arguments
Arguing and even getting angry, with the people at home is one of the safest ways to express yourself and expunge the negatives from our day. That means that sometimes we are going to “feel safe” in arguing and unloading on those a t home because…we know that they will always be here. Of course, it’s sometimes difficult not to take it personally and we typically give back as much as we receive. But that’s because it’s safe to do so.
I would reflect on the comfort of my home
I know that some folks are “clean-freaks” and cannot have a dish out of place or a carpet not cleaned. I applaud you and want you to know I really enjoy coming to your homes. But this is not mine because I want to be comfortable and “homey at home”. This does not mean that my home is a disaster area (well, maybe sometimes) but it does mean that the furniture is comfortable and inviting. That’s what it’s made for, after all.
My home would be pet friendly
Having grown up with always having a dog I have certainly carried that into my adulthood and, yes, you will find at least one dog in my home. These are our companions and are usually another reason why our homes feel safe and comfortable. Oh sure, I know that more and more people are becoming allergic to cats and dogs but…we’ll visit outside if you come over or perhaps I’ll just come to your hairball free house. The dog stays home.
When I look through the various topics above, I know that these are who I am and certainly what I would blog about should I ever choose to begin a family blog. These are things that important about me and things that I value. After all, when I come home I want to be safe…and I want to be comfortable.
What do you think? Could you write a family blog and would it be similar to mine or would it be totally different? Perhaps we could form a community of like-minded bloggers and share our family stories. We should certainly be sharing them with our descendants and maybe have a tab for them to add their two cents worth.
Hi Bill and thanks for your comment. The home is the castle...are we allowed to build a moat?
You are really busy with Street Articles...you write them faster than I can read them! Keep it up!
Hey, thanks. I was doing the 30 in 30 Day Challenge and got a lot of visits to my sites because of it.
