OK newbies, gather round and tune in the antennae, I'm going to let you in on a few secrets! The first of those is to be very careful where and how you spend your advertising dollar. When you are newcomers to a system (and I don't care what system we are talking about!) you are almost bound to do as the top brass tells you.
In the first instance, if you are an IM newbie it is almost certain that you will try to accomplish the first goal of most IM systems, which is to take massive action, and quickly! If you are not careful, and not aware of how thing work in this new world of IM, by doing just that you may be falling into a trap. I have just come from a conversation with several reputable solo ad providers who were bemoaning that fact that so many of us (newbies that is) are wasting our money.
How? By using the company approved swipes and funnels; " I personally find it laughable that new *&^&*^ (I'm not going to use any company names here) joiners will order 50 clicks and expect a miracle. 2 years ago the average conversion rate on IM sales was around 1% 2 years later is a lot less, and with an over promoted product , even less." - "For ^&%* , 150 per sale is realllllly pushing the optimistic side... And that's considering using a custom funnel".

Newbie money "Down the tube!"
A common feature throughout the conversation was that the problem was not *&*&* per se, simply the use of the supplied swipe files and sales funnel. A far larger return on investment (ROI) was available to those who wrote, or otherwise obtained, original and attractive swipes and for those who developed their own sales funnels (which can, in turn, lead to the company sales page if that's the way you decide to go.
Now I mentioned solo ads in the first place for a very good reason, if you are new to IM, this is probably the first point of call for most. Simply because it is, apparently, the simplest way to achieve the dream. As you can now see, it may not be quite as easy as you first thought. However, all is not lost, there are many places to find out how to write good swipes (Just Google it!) and there are certainly many, many places to help and show you how to create your own novel sales funnel.
There is also a plethora of companies and individuals offering assistance with Face Book advertising, Twitter advertising, Pinterest, Instagram, you name it and there is plenty of advice and "Howto's" , especially on YouTube.
