It is important to know that this disease is the second most common form of cancer in the UK after lung cancer. One in eight women is diagnosed with this disease at some stage of her life. Research has shown that more than 80% of breast cancers are found in women over 50. Being a female UK resident you need to be aware of your breasts especially if you are an older woman.

It is important to improve your awareness by knowing various facts about breast cancer so you can educate people and raise awareness during the event. You can also create your own event if you take the initiative and be a part of the awareness campaign.
Organize your own event to support the cause
You can invite your close ones and friends on any day of this month to support the cause. Make sure you organize the event in such a way that it can let the participants improve their awareness and raise funds. It is a good to invite breast cancer survivors and women who are fighting this disease so they can share their experience with other people at the event. This will also help support the cause during this month.
Raise awareness of carrying out self breast examination
It will be a nice idea if you raise awareness of carrying out self breast examination at the event. Educate people about how important it is to examine their breasts on a regular basis. A regular examination routine helps a woman to know what is normal for her breasts. By acknowledging the normal appearance it becomes very easy to detect any unusual change right away. While carrying out a self examination, you need to know its purpose. Its purpose is to detect any possible breast abnormalities which might be breast cancer symptoms.
