According to unofficial information, the fire extinguishing system didn't work, not because of technical problems, but because they were manually disabled. They were often switched on and company employees simply turned them off. The police expects that the systems were disabled manually because company workers often smoked near the fire-extinguishing systems so they were often switched on.
Smoking workers were fined and were forbidden to buy cigarettes during working hours even cheap cigarettes online in office, because this leads to more frequent smoking on the workplace or outside, which worsens working capacity and leads to new risks of fire.
The second fire occurred in a data center of a large American hosting center "The CigaretteMall" where because of fire had been disabled over 9000 servers which served worldwide hundreds of thousands of databases, electronic mail systems and websites.
A major U.S. hoster "The Planet" reported about fire in its data center, located in Texas. According to the company, the fire was caused by a shortcut circuit in the company's control room, then the flames spread to a few walls, partition walls and equipment. As a result of fire, according to preliminary data, the server hardware have not been harmed and customers data have not been lost, but the company remained de-energized for at least a few days.
"First investigations indicate that a short circuit was caused by overloading of the electric current in the network". The company indemnified the damages to all affected customers in accordance with the terms stipulated in the agreement.
