Best Workout for Abs

There are lots of different ideas and theories out there regarding what the absolute best workout for abs really is. Some say that you can get abs just by what you eat and others say you have to do several hundred crunches to get your abdominals to respond. It is true that diet is very important(although it is not everything!) but doing countless reps is not only very ineffective, it is a good way to get yourself injured!

So just what is the best workout for abs?

Your abs are just like any muscle and respond to the same kind of training. This might sound crazy with all the misinformation and sales pitches being thrown around but it is absolutely true! I mean, is there any reason why abs are special? The only thing that makes them special at all is their aesthetic appearance.

Getting six pack abs requires real commitment and self discipline. If you do not have these qualities and you still seek to have six pack abs, you are wasting your time! Harsh but true.

Now then, the best workout for abs is a muscle building style routine with abdominal exercises. Duh! The thing is, though, training for a six pack can be difficult from a mechanical standpoint. Abs require a lot of the more complex exercises with a lot of them being body-weight movements. On the plus side, this means that you can do away with expensive machines and weights and instead rely on simple equipment like benches, dip stations, and pull up bars to do your six pack training!

To build muscle, you should be doing exercises that you can only really manage 8-12 repetitions with. Do those reps and have no more than a 2 minute break in between sets. The idea is to use enough strength that it causes enough stimulation(micro tears in the muscle) without causing lactic acid buildup. Remember: strength builds muscle better than endurance, but training for purely strength is less effective for pure mass building than the 8-12 rep range.

There are many lies and false claims out there designed to sell you this or that and we have to cut through this jungle to get at the real information.
